✨ Tending the Belly is for everyBODY ✨

In Tending the Belly from Tu'lix Indigenous Arts @tulixindigenousarts we explore the wisdom of our bellies through the art of touch, learning practices that support not only the womb and reproductive system, but also the digestive system and our relationship with the nervous system.

Rooted in the lineage of Masawel Yucatec traditions, this work honors the belly as a place of connection: to our bodies, our ancestors, the living earth, and the deep wisdom held within us. Through this lineage, tending the belly becomes a practice of remembering our belonging, not only to ourselves, but to the earth that nourishes and sustains us.

Our bellies hold so much of our lived experience. They are connected to how we digest our food, how we respond to stress, how we experience emotions, and how safe and grounded we feel in our bodies. Like the earth, our bellies are places of nourishment, transformation, and renewal.

And this is not just for women. It's for everyBODY. Every body carrying its own stories, experiences, and wisdom.

You don't need to have a womb to benefit from tending your belly. You don't need to be experiencing discomfort to deserve this kind of care.

Your belly deserves your attention, your tenderness, and your love.

We are teaching our last class of this year with @thebellybee first week of December 🌺

It's always so deep, transformational and beyond words to be in this this circle ✨

In our Tending the Belly live, Ashton from @thebellybee and I shared a little more about this beautiful work, the practices, the benefits we’ve experienced, how we each came to this path, and the beauty of being held within this container. ❤️

Tending the Belly is not only about the practices themselves. It is an invitation to slow down, listen more deeply to the body, reconnect with our belly and womb, and remember the relationship we have with ourselves, our lineage, the plants and the Earth.

We also pulled two cards to bring a little extra guidance into our conversation: California Poppy and The Wild One.

Each card carries its own message, and we’ll be sharing what came through for us and how these messages connect with the work we are walking together. ❤️

Come join us for the conversation and feel into what these might be inviting you to remember 🌿

We are teaching Tending the Belly from T'ulix Indigenous Arts in a few days (September) and another circle happening in December 🌺

Any questions lets us know! ✨

Here’s one of my favourite simple preparations: Herbal Digestive and Inmune system Vinegar 🌿

Ingredients:
• 1 cup apple cider vinegar with the mother
• 1 tbsp fresh ginger
• 1 tbsp mint
• 1 tbsp rosemary
• 1 tbsp fresh oregano
• 1 tbsp fennel seeds
• 1 tbsp thyme
• Optional: 3 garlic bulbs

If you like a bit spicy you can add chili

Place everything in a glass jar, cover with vinegar and leave for 2–4 weeks, shaking gently every few days. Strain and store and label it 🙂

A beautiful way to support comfortable digestion and bring herbs into your daily ritual. 🌿

Use it with Olive oil for salads and different preparations

We’re talking about herbs and plants in our next Tending the Belly circle from Tul’ix Indigenous Arts with @thebellybee

We’ll explore their wisdom, traditional uses, and simple ways to bring plants into our everyday practices of nourishment and self-care.

Always so excited to share this work with you and keep learning together. 🤎

🌎 There is no doubt, the Earth is calling us.

Calling us to slow down.
To listen.
To remember that we are not separate from her.

And sometimes, coming back to the Earth begins with coming back to the body.

Through the belly.
Through the womb.
Through the pelvis.
Through the breath.

Through simple, ancient human practices that invite us to feel grounded, present, and connected again.

🌿 Womb steaming & perineal steaming can become beautiful rituals of warmth, presence, and connection with the pelvic area, creating a moment to slow down, soften, breathe, and consciously tend to ourselves.

🌿 Grounding practices help us reconnect with our senses and our bodies, supporting regulation, presence, and a deeper relationship with the land beneath us.

🌿 Abdominal massage, castor oil practices, swaddling, herbal medicine, cyclical awareness and nourishment invite us to tend to the belly as a place of nourishment, intuition, connection and remembrance.

A beautiful blend for steams it's calendula, lavender and rosemary ✨ Helps with inflammation, circulation of the tissues and balance.

We will explore more blends with @thebelly in our Circle Tending the Belly from T'ulix Indigenous Arts 🌺

Perhaps the Earth is calling us to remember how to belong to her. 🌎🌿

🌿 In Tending the Belly from Tulix indigenous Arts @tulixindigenousarts we remember how to listen to the plants.

We honor plants as living, sentient beings, not simply as ingredients, but as beings we can enter into relationship with.

Before gathering a plant for food, medicine, a balm, a bath, or a ritual, we practice asking for permission. We slow down. We listen. We notice what is being offered.

This is a living relationship.

And sometimes, the plants speak through a feeling, an image, a sensation, a knowing… or simply through the inspiration that arises when we spend time with them.

🌱 This way of relating to plants is part of what we will explore in our next circle, remembering ancient ways of connecting, listening, and receiving from the living world.

A return to relationship.
A return to listening.
A return to the wisdom of the plants. 🌿

We will explore about plants for vaginal steams, balms, nourishment, baths, and recipes as a self-care journey and for the community

We are always so happy to share this knowledge together 💚 @thebellybee

There is ancient wisdom in the warmth 🌿

One of my favorite rituals for reconnecting with the womb is vaginal steaming. More than a wellness practice, it is a sacred pause, an invitation to soften, listen, and return to the wisdom that has always lived within us.

For generations, women have gathered around healing herbs and steam to nourish the womb, support their cycles, and honor the connection between body, emotions, spirit, and lineage. Every time I steam, I feel as though I am coming home.

Vaginal steaming may support:
🌿 Healthy pelvic circulation
🌿 Menstrual and postpartum healing
🌿 Nervous system regulation and deep relaxation
🌿 Emotional release
🌿 A deeper connection with your womb and intuition
🌿Lineage healing

In Tending the Belly from Tulix Indigenous Arts @tulixindigenousarts we share this beautiful ancestral practice alongside other traditional ways of caring for the belly and womb, remembering that healing is not only physical 💚 it is emotional, ancestral, and deeply connected to how we tend ourselves and the earth.

Have you ever experienced a vaginal steam? 🤍

Some healing happens through touch. 🤲🏻

Some happens through deep presence of another human. Through listening, being witnessed with compassion, and having space to simply be.. without an agenda or judgment from anyone.

Today I’m feeling deeply grateful for Ashton @thebellybee and her beautiful Zoom healing session. It was another reminder that healing doesn’t depend on sharing the same room. 💛 We love Zoom. 🫶🏻🌺 The power and convenience of being in the safety of your own home is incredible too.

Recently I began offering Zoom consultations for listening, witnessing, and distant healing through the powerful Indigenous Tul’ix practices. I felt there was a deep need for these sessions.

What I didn’t realise at first was that I needed them myself too. Ashton was the right person for this, with such deep wisdom and presence. 🥹

Zoom sessions have become such a meaningful way to stay connected with my Tul’ix sisters and to receive the same care I so often hold for others.

I’m still moving through a season of transition, and my body is speaking that truth too. Leaving, letting go of, first my dad, and now this home—and this garden that has held so much of our family’s life—and moving to new land (still in Ngāmotu) feels profound. It’s tender, messy, exciting, and exhausting all at once.

So for now, I’m riding this wave with as much compassion for myself as I can.

My availability for in-person clients is quite limited while we’re moving, but it will gradually open up again once we’ve settled.

Thank you for your patience, your trust, and your incredible support this year. It means more than you know. 🤍

- Miia Sielu 🙏🏻💛
