Recently, my daughter, Alexas and I embarked on a heartfelt journey to create a new tradition for my granddaughter Bailey’s #christianwomen #christianwomenleaders #womeninmedia #modesty #christianwomenentrepreneurs sixteenth birthday. We called it the “It Takes a Village Sweet Sixteen Debutante Reception.” Our goal was not only to celebrate this milestone in her life but also to emphasize the importance of community and support.
As our family gathered, we shared stories and memories, reflecting on how far we’ve come together. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy, as multiple generations came together to honor our beloved granddaughter.
Our vision for this tradition goes beyond our own family. We hope that other families will embrace the idea of celebrating their young ones’ coming of age in a similar fashion. The concept of “It Takes a Village” reminds us that raising a child involves the collective effort of family, friends, and community. By creating a supportive environment filled with love and encouragement, we believe we can positively impact the lives of our future generations.
This tradition is not just about a single event; it’s about building lasting connections and nurturing relationships. It’s about instilling values of compassion, unity, and strength in our youth as they embark on their journey into adulthood.
We encourage everyone who reads this to consider adopting a similar tradition in their own families. Whether it’s a Sweet Sixteen reception or any other significant milestone, the act of coming together as a village to uplift and honor our young ones can truly make a difference.
Let’s continue to build traditions that uphold our family values and legacy, ensuring that our children and grandchildren grow up surrounded by love, support, and a sense of belonging. Together, we can create memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Scenes from Ruth’s Kitchen- Israel.
Being here in Israel brings back some of the joys of childhood.
I’ve always loved to cook. One of the greatest memories I have of growing up was learning how to prepare great dishes for our family.
My grandmother made sure that we understood the value of food and family mealtime.
Fresh vegetables from our garden and making preserves from our fruit trees was a yearly event.
I’m being introduced to new foods and flavours.
I’m enjoying using my southern cooking skills to create meals that my husband and I enjoy.
It’s always nice to have friends and family visiting from the USA which makes it so meaningful to us.

@farmersjamatl #strawberrymoonfarmerjam last Thurs opened up with Taurus Moon that is @heidi_pollyea, Johanna Million and @thebelynn_ on #cajon
Then the farmers jammed. (Please tag them.) @christianahmed_ spit out some rhymes.
It ended with the #strawberrymoon2021 over the railroads.
A really great night! Raised money for more fruit trees, more jams. Spread it!
