@thebigcatch.official recently opened up shop and I had the chance to check it out! 🐟🐟

The haddock and chips and halibut and chips were both amazing, with a light even batter that kept the crunch intact! As you can see, there was also plenty of fries too! Inside there were posters explaining the benefits of fries, and I’m definitely choosing to believe them 😂

Which fish do you usually get with chips? Mine is definitely halibut!

Thanks @thebigcatch.official and @yelptoronto! 🎉🎉

Fish & Chips sounds like an easy meal but it could be done either really well or it could be a disaster. @thebigcatch.official in Markham does it well!!

Even though everything is deep-fried, it still tastes light. I loved that calamari was really meaty and the shrimp was delicious. Actual fish was perfectly cooked and I loved every bite!

Having an option of getting a salad with my fish was great! Yes, Fish and Chips is traditional but Fish and Salad was perfect!

Thanks for having me @thebigcatch.official | invite

Its #fishfriday and Markham just got a BIG CATCH! and these are the fish & chips you've been looking for along with a lot more of your seafood favorites!

THE BIG CATCH opened up their newest 3rd location in Markham and with over 30 years of history serving up their traditional British style fish & chips you know they're doing something right.

We got the CAPTAIN'S PLATTER with all the seafood bangers and fixins like shrimps, calamari, onion rings, fries, coleslaw and a huge piece of haddock!

But you cant forget their SIGNATURE SAUCES, like their TARTAR SAUCE, a classic creamy dip for all! And their 2 newly launched tartar sauces SPICY & CHIPTOLE.

Spicy coming in with the slight heat and chipotle coming in with the smoky bold flavours! Try em all! but the CHIPOTLE was my fave.

We also got some deep fried mushrooms, clams and pickles! A great spot for family and friend gatherings, dine in for a comfortable meal or some takeout for the weekend!

Tried out the 1pc halibut + chips for lunch at @thebigcatch.official (thanks @yelptoronto) 🐟 🍟

WOW this was delicious!! The batter was light (see slide 4!!) and it tasted very fresh and light, no fishy smell. I usually like to eat fish by itself before putting vinegar or condiments/seasoning on. This def passed the bare fish check!

The chips were a little thinner than traditional chips but they were still very good! They did feel a little like fries.

This is a very casual fish and chips place so don't expect attentive service 😅 but it's an excellent place for a quick bite!

🌊 @thebigcatch.official, a classic fish & chips restaurant that’s been around for 30 years, has opened a new location in Markham - and we’re hooked! 🎣

What we ordered:
👩🏻‍✈️Captain Platter with halibut, shrimp, calamari, fries, onion rings and coleslaw
🐟🥗 Haddock & Salad for a perfectly balanced meal

Make sure you try all three of their tartar sauces - we liked the classic and chipotle the most 😋

The Big Catch
📍869 Mulock Drive, Newmarket On

If you’re a seafood person, you need to know about The Big Catch.

We stopped in on our way out of Simcoe County to visit Jay’s family for the week in Kingston & we ordered the The Grand Catch Family Feast… It was is HUGE 😂 Three big pieces of wild-caught haddock or halibut, fried shrimp, calamari, onion rings, fries, coleslaw, drinks AND three different tartar sauces.

Everything was crispy, fresh and there was more than enough for the two of us 😂😂 (we packed it up and brought the rest to Kingston with us) . Definitely the kind of meal you order when you’re hungry because you are NOT leaving hungry.

Would you try it here?
