Huge shoutout to @thebiodude and the team down there in Houston, TX.

Got Pip’s full Bearded Dragon Desert Starter kit from them for this enclosure and it looks so natural. Yes these are all real plants including the Prickly Pear cactus and Aloe Vera.

Pip already took some bites out of the elephant plant, which is 100% reptile safe from the pack.

Really looking forward to seeing this little ecosystem thrive as Pip grows up!

Making bioactive ETB enclosure work long term rather than crashing within a few months is starting with a proper substrate blend that was actually designed for high humidity tropical environments rather than adapted from something else.⁠

I grew up on the Ohio River, playing in these Appalachian creeks my entire life, and now the Tarantula Collective studio sits right on Wheeling Creek. By September 13th the leaves will be starting to change and the hills will be turning every shade of orange and red. The drive into Wheeling is worth enjoying all by itself, no matter what direction youre coming from.

So take the scenic route, slow down for a day, hang out by the creek, meet a bunch of spider people, and spend a Sunday surrounded by tarantulas, scorpions, centipedes, millipedes, roaches, beetles, plants, oddities, and other inverts.

LAVA PALUDARIUM BUILD PART 2🌋🌴🌊

This part is all about the hardscape, effects, and creating a water feature🌊 Stay tuned to see how the lava chamber comes to life here🌋 (you might even notice a music change as it does;)

A couple of notes for building: don’t silicone the bottom to the top of foam, you need that water to pass through! Test your waterfalls!! There’s so many cool ways to make them and how this turned out was not in the original plan at all! Lava rock and @thebiodude Hydrogrow works great to fill in spots and filter water🌊 A lot of inspiration for this build was drawn from @alternateaquatics volcano build! Go check out his video!
