We are delighted to announce the latest bands added to The London International Ska Festival 2027 are not only performing something very special and close to our hearts, but also a ground breaking world exclusive…

Phoenix City All-stars & The Potato 5 horns meet Laurel Aitken!

Two of the UK’s leading ska bands, coming together for the very first time, to celebrate Laurel Aitken’s 100th birthday year for a truly unique and ground-breaking event.

Phoenix City All-stars are one of the UK’s finest exponents of authentic ska, and will feature two members of The Loafers - Denise and Sean, who Laurel guested with numerous times including a show at London’s iconic Astoria Theatre at the peak of the UK’s late 80’s Ska Explosion

Laurel, of course, also played live and recorded with UK’s leading ska band of the mid-late 80s, the mighty Potato 5. Together released such classics as Sally Brown, Mad About You, Sahara and Dial M For Murder.

Although Laurel passed away in 2005, through state of the art technology, and incredibly excitingly, the show will star the Laurel himself on vocals!

Laurel was a dear friend, who played the first ever London Int’l Ska Festival back in 1988! I was honoured to have him on many shows over the years, to play live with him, share stories and laugh with him. Come join us for a truly unique and groundbreaking celebration for the Godfather of Ska!

Absolutely cracking night @thebionicrats - amazing live gig - brass section were on fire! 🔥🔥🔥 Then DJ set after 👌 Buzzing! Met the soundest people! It was like a mini festival vibe! Today I feel like I've been run over by a bus with Bob Marley in the driver's seat! 🤣 Nothing a Guinness and some deep heat won't fix! Here we go, let's be havin' ye....round two ding, ding, ding! ☘️☘️☘️
