90 percent of the guest I see have natural hair! Sometimes relaxers make sense- so I still do them!! It’s all about the lifestyle & transparency, I understand when clients don’t have time for hair & long salon visits!!

I’ll even do an edge relaxer when it makes sense! Everyone is not a candidate, I don’t recommend doing this unless you’re with an experienced professional that you feel like you can be honest with!! And trust their recommendations even if it’s not what you want to hear!

I think this is Part 1! I have to post this in a series! 😂✨ Part 2 I’ll explain why we didn’t do the keratin treatment & I do those too!

DENSE HAIR + FINE STRANDS = A WHOLE DIFFERENT BALLGAME. 🤎✨

This wasn’t about completely changing her hair. It was about making what she already had look richer, healthier, softer and more intentional.

We did a Root Retouch + Tonal Refresh, then finished with a voluminous blow-dry to bring those layers and movement ALL the way out.

And baby…she has some HAIR. 😂

Her hair is incredibly dense, but the individual strands are fine, which means the blow-dry requires serious control. Too much tension, too much heat or the wrong technique and you can easily lose the softness and movement we’re trying to create.

But THAT FINISH? 😍

🤎 Refreshed roots
🤎 Richer, dimensional tone
🤎 Beautiful shine
🤎 Soft, moving layers
🤎 Fullness without heaviness

This one challenged me, and I LOVE that because every head of hair teaches you something.

But the best part?

She loved it. And THAT’S always the goal. 🤎

Now swipe through and look at the before.

Would you have guessed those were fine strands underneath all that density? 👀

Save this for your next hair appointment and send it to somebody who needs a refresh.

A beautiful result! Along with a service planned around her comfort. ✨

This is my daughter, Devlyn, and she is autistic. Hair appointments and longer styling sessions can sometimes feel tiring or overstimulating, so I try to be intentional about how I approach her hair.

For this style, I kept the process simple: I explained what I was doing, worked in manageable sections, checked in with her, avoided unnecessary pulling, and gave her room to take a break if she needed one.

The goal was not only soft curls and movement. I also wanted her to feel safe, heard, and comfortable throughout the process.

As a cosmetology student and a mother, I’m learning that a successful service is about more than the finished picture. It is also about paying attention to the person in the chair and adjusting the experience to meet their needs.

I’m proud of how the style came together; and even more proud that we were able to make the process manageable for her. 🤎

Parents and caregivers: what helps make hair days easier for your child?

Save this for a future hair day, or share it with someone raising a sensory-sensitive child.
