Kansas City didn’t just play jazz—it built the blueprint. People walk past 18th & Vine every day not realizing this exact soil shaped the rhythm, the cadence, and the culture of American music. Legends like Count Basie, Charlie Parker, and Mary Lou Williams didn’t just make records here; they built an era. The Blue Room isn’t just a venue, it’s living history. #tgcstone #tgcjohnnystone #jazzmusic #kansascity

I Believe In You | Johnnie Taylor Cover | Sir James & The Collective - Johnnie released this song in 1973 and it’s still a banger. I remember listening to it at cookouts and various parties as a child. Real music stands the test of time. #atwood #kc #sirjamesandthecollective #livemusickc #justsing

Jazz! Barbeque! Prohibition!

Kansas City was heavily controlled by organized crime and a corrupt political machine during the 1920s, yet the black community thrived!

🔥Marissa offers something special to the literary world! “When I realized there were very few historical romances featuring Black characters, I set out to help fill the shelves. My mission is to bring happily ever afters to all of my ancestors.”
