🏅Chicago MARATHON DAY⭐️
We did it, Joe! I didn’t reach for the moon, I went to Mars! Chicago, thank you for carrying me. This day was one of my favorite days as a runner thus far, even with the sickness and issues I experienced. I’ve never been prouder of myself and my people. This day is going to be a hard one to top! I got my first star. I am a world marathon major finisher.

🏃🏻‍♀️Chicago Marathon Weekend Day ✌🏻⚾️
“LET THE BIG DOG EAT!”- Phil Brickma
5k in Chicago with the best squad! Robert even participated ON COURSE! Started the morning out with a chaider and leaving @robertbarkeroswald his final rally message because this was the day he became A MARATHONER in Hartford! I decided to rep my husbands favorite childhood film and run as Henry Rowengartner. After the 5k we had breakfast at Ed Debevics (shout out to our waiter Hal for the top tier sass and encouragement), hit up Pop Mart and the Harry Potter store, watched some college football, and enjoyed a pre race carb loading dinner with the fam. Top tier day with top tier people in a top tier city. I love you Chicago.

🤩Chicago Marathon Weekend Day ☝🏻🩵❤️
What a time to be alive. Forever grateful for the people who made this day (and the whole weekend) so incredibly special. Meeting new friends, catching up with old ones, and realizing I was about to become a world major marathoner. Being part of ACS Team DetermiNation and the HIGHEST fundraising team for the weekend was pretty darn special too (shoutout to the runDisney Villains Take Chicago AGAIN!). Unreal that this was only the first day.

🏅C H I C A G O ⭐️
A medal Monday for the ages. I am not sure I’ve ever felt more proud. I pushed through literal hell to get to that finish line- but I did it. I am a World Marathon Major finisher.

Was yesterday the race I hoped it would be? Absolutely not. My body decided to go against me starting at about mile 6 and continue being quite disrespectful through the rest of the race. I had to walk the final 8 miles. I got passed by the pace car. I was SO SICK the majority of the race.

But I finished. I have that medal around my neck. I crossed the time mat at the finish like. I’m an official @wmmajors @chimarathon finisher. And I have never felt more proud of myself.

The people I was surrounded by this weekend made it even more special. Family. Friends- new and old. Runners I had only just met and ones I met in the corrals. And wow the city of Chicago. You are a gift. It’s true what they say- the city carries you. I’ve never experienced the crowd support that I did in Chicago. I hugged strangers. I pet dogs. I high fived little kids and grown men. I cried, I laughed, I danced, I sang, I panicked, and I rose above the struggle and the pain to cross that finish line running, with a smile on my face just like @thebrookhartproject told me to.

Chicago was good to me. I’m going home with a full heart and more memories than I could possibly carry. Chicago- I’ll be back 🤟🏻

My second butterfly challenge was all about fun. It wasn’t about PRs. It wasn’t about run walk intervals. It wasn’t about anything but celebrating running and celebrating Dolly Parton and the incredibly beautiful life she lived. I ran for Dolly this weekend, and I got my wings in the form of a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and challenge medal. The memories made this weekend on and off these courses are worth their weight in gold. This medal Monday is so different for me in the sweetest way. These medals are beautiful- but the people, the memories, and the Smokies are the true reward from this weekend. Run Dollywood weekend number two is in the books. And good golly, Miss Dolly- we will always love you.
