I’m convinced there’s no problem in life that a long car ride and copious amounts of Pink Floyd can’t at least put into perspective.

Sun coming up. Cornfields rolling by. Letting the song finish before trying to figure your whole life out. 🫶

RIP Den Den 💐🎸

This song isn’t just a Janis Joplin classic—it’s a memory, a bond, a ritual.

My Grandpa Mike and I used to sing Mercedes Benz at the top of our lungs on long road trips. No music, no radio—just us, harmonizing off-key, laughing, and pretending we were rockstars rolling down the highway. He always said Janis had “just the right amount of whiskey and wild in her voice,” and he loved that I could tap into that same grit.

He passed away last year.

We scattered his ashes into the San Francisco Bay—his favorite city, the place he always said felt like freedom. As the wind carried him out over the water, all I could hear in my head was: “My friends all drive Porsches…”

Performing this song a cappella is more than just singing. It’s remembering. It’s channeling his spirit. It’s honoring that wild, free love of music he passed down to me.

Every note is for him.
Every breath is for the roads we traveled together.
And every lyric is one last ride with Grandpa Mike.
