There are a few things you can always count on at @tnlitcon , books, spending money we probably shouldn’t, and there WILL be dancing. 😂💃🏻 Honestly, this is half the reason I love this event so much. Yeah, we’re there for the books and authors, but somewhere along the way it turns into us laughing, dancing, being ridiculous, and just having the such a fun time with some of the best people.

And then it’s over WAY too fast and I’m sitting here watching all the videos wishing I was still there. Take me back 🥹🧡

❓Are you the one starting the dancing or the one getting dragged into it? I’m definitely the one getting dragged (thanks @morallygreytray 🤣)

Book Review and Aesthetic

𝑸𝑶𝑻𝑫 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔

Wildwood
by Ashley Woo

Thank you so much to @bibliolifestyle @harperperennial #partner for a physical ARC of this book by debut author Ashley Woo.

Elinor and her husband, Topher, inherit a house in a remote area of Vermont. She’s lost her job, has a baby on the way, and Topher just finished his fellowship as an emergency room doctor. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, but there’s a catch. They must live in the house for a year before they can own it outright and receive their inheritance. There are so many reviews that discuss the plot of this book, so I’m just going to tell you how I felt reading it.

Y’all! I think I have a new favorite book! This one took me back to my roots, to my love of gothic, haunted house stories. I got away from them because so many relied on the paranormal to explain away the weird happenings, but this book doesn’t. You know in your bones that, while the creepy mural in Elinor and Topher’s bedroom is feeding her nightmares, there is something real lurking in those woods, creeping into the house, and messing with Elinor.

I lived in an old Victorian, so I know the feeling of dark, musty corners, splintery wood floors, and a creepy, damp basement. And while Elinor took risks with her pregnancy, went barefoot way too often (for a house with nails sticking out of the floor!), and foolishly confronted dangerous people, the writing was rich and engaging. I wanted to read this all day to find out what was happening, but I also didn’t want the story to end!
