Why can't we just escape to a farm in the middle of nowhere and drink wine in a hot tub and write wacky fantasy prompts every day? 😭

THE 'BOOKS YOU COULDN'T PAY ME TO' BOOKSTA TAG
📚🌟📚🌟📚🌟📚🌟📚🌟📚🌟📚

hi all, welcome to another tag, this one inspired by the recent trend!

a book you couldn't pay me to...put down:
FATE'S BANE (2025)
- this was such a small book, but from the moment i picked it up i could not stop reading. with the lyrical writing, epic character arcs, and the horrific inevitability of a love story featuring daughters of two separate clans, it was too good to not read in one.

a book you couldn't pay me to...shut up about:
THE EVERLASTING (2025)
- this was my first read of the year and i have not stopped yapping about it since! a slow-burn between a soldier plunged back in time and the lady knight who has become his symbol of patriotism, and packets of tissues for the amount of times you will cry at this book, anyone?

a book you couldn't pay me to...pick up:
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES (2015)
- sorry everyone, but this just is not my thing and i'm not inspired to pick it up, either. but good for all of you that enjoy it and have found meaning in it.

a book you couldn't pay me to...reread:
THE KINGDOMS (2022)
- this book frustrated me on so many levels that it needs to sit in the corner and think of what it has done, before i can even consider picking it up again.

a book you couldn't pay me to...not read:
AS YOU WAKE, BREAK THE SHELL (2026)
- ever since i heard about the new becky chambers book, i knew it would be an automatic yes, though i never thought i would be lucky enough to get an e-arc and read it one early. but this has been a joy to read, and i have a five star review coming tommorrow!

thanks for reading! 🐝

THE 'BOOKSTA MADE ME BUY IT' TAG
📚🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚

hi all, and welcome to a tag from @daisypurple.reads that i knew i had some of the perfect answers to!

THE STARVING SAINTS (2025)
- as i get more and more into horror, i was looking for a medieval horror rec. and after seeing lots of reviews going: i don’t know what happened, but wow, i needed to pick this one up. so here we are, my current read, about a knight, an ex-nun, and a rat catcher, trapped in a castle under siege.

SISTERSONG (2021)
- there were really high reviews of this title, so i thought that i would give this a go – only for it to become one of my highest rated reads of the year. this emotional tale is a retelling of the twa sisters, and follows three siblings, as their differing paths seek to tear their kingdom apart.

NETTLE & BONE (2022)
- without bookstagram, i don’t think i would have picked up t kingfisher at all – starting with nettle and bone. nettle and bone follows marra, an ex-nun, who is trying to save her sister from an evil prince, with the help of a motley crew of faiytale characters.

THE SPEAR CUTS THROUGH WATER (2023)
- another highly rated read from 2023, everything i saw about this book piqued my curiosity, and i found myself fully immersed. this almost ghibli-esque story unfolds in several ways: a young man, listening to a story, a trip to the inverted theatre, and two young men smuggling a lone goddess across a blighted land.

THE EVERLASTING (2025)
- the first five star read of 2026, the everlasting was all it had been described as and more. it begins with owen mallory, a young man who has lived his life inspired by the patriotic figure of una everlasting – but what happens when he learns the truth behind the story keeping the kingdom of dominion alive?

thanks for reading! 🐝

INSTAGRAM BACKSTORY CHALLENGE
🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚🐝📚

hi everyone, welcome to another tag post, this from @bury_me_in_books_ from a while back!

when did you start your bookstagram?
- it was in october of 2022, i had just finished university and had always loved reading, so i figured i had the time and creative energy to give it a go - here we are 3.5 years on!

what inspired your username?
- just my name and a little alliteration, so nothing exciting!

what was the first review you posted?
- my first review was for the starless sea by erin morgenstern, a book about books that i hoped was a good title to start with. if i remember rightly, it was followed by circe by madeliene miller.

what was your favourite thing about bookstagram?
- probably the community, everyone i have met is so kind and supportive, and it has taught me a lot – not only about netgalley or reviews, but about the constantly shifting tide of bookish trends and genres.

what book did bookstagram make you buy?
- at this point? quite a few. but the two most notable ones are the everlasting by alix e harrow and the spear cuts through water by simon jiminez, which both ended up being books that i will defintely pick up again!

favourite bookstagram tag?
- there are too many, but my favourites are often where you have to match a title to a specific question!

recent favourite read?
- the girl with a thousand faces by sunyi dean, which ended up being my second five star review of the year!

thanks for reading! 🐝

i have tagged a few people but no pressure, and feel free to be tagged if you have not been, too!
