Anxious autistic visits a comedy club for the very first time!

The main character project part 2 🎥

Stepping into completely unknown social situations can be terrifying. So when I was invited to the launch of the new comedy club @thelanescomedyclub Norwich, I was excited but my social anxiety was on high alert. My ultimate fear? Sitting near the front and getting picked on by the comedian 👀

I was made to feel so welcome and treated to the FULL Bowling House experience.

The night started downstairs with some incredible food, bowling, and darts

But then we went upstairs for the live stand-up show. The first couple of acts weren’t really my cup of tea to be totally honest but then the headliner @tiernancomedian stepped up and it was belly laughs all round.

HOWEVER my nightmare came true. He singled me out and my camera was hijacked.

It was loud, chaotic and utterly brilliant. Turns out, the scary things in our heads are rarely as bad as reality… and I actually had a really good time.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to step out of your comfort zone and be the main character of your week, this is it. Go do the thing!!

Thank you @thelanescomedyclub for the gifted/invite, to @_julieeju for being my awesome +1 and to @tiernancomedian for going easy on me 😉

Guy had a mega time @thebowlinghouse last week.

They’ve now got @thelanescomedyclub on for 5 nights a week, and they’re the first permanent comedy venue in Norwich, which is awesome! Deffo get down there and support them.
