Brad Bradford and Chris Alexander are absolute demon nightmares, and we must push back against them. At the same time, even as we push for Olivia Chow, I believe we need to avoid glorifying her or positioning her as a perfect progressive candidate.

There is a way to remain critical and to make the DRSB or Project Resolute etc. election issues, while still pushing for Chow. If we create an environment where any valid criticism of Chow is seen as bad, we risk actively participating in pushing the whole political sphere to the right.

And to be clear, of course there is a lot of horrific misogynistic, racist, and conservative pushback against Olivia, but that is not what I’m talking about here. Rather, I believe we need to make space for truly valid critique both now and following elections.

Let me know what yall think down in the comments - I’ve had this conversation in person with several comrades, and am always curious for more povs.

Everyone wants good regulation.. until it's their own industry being regulated.

In September of 2025, 346 days after Benjamin Netanyahu began his illegal occupation of Gaza and the destruction of Palestinian lives. Canadian liberal MP Vince Gasparro thought Kneecap’s stance on the aforementioned genocide was enough to ban the rap group from entering Canada.

He stated that "on behalf of the government of Canada I am announcing that on the advice of our officials, we have deemed the group Kneecap ineligible to enter our country." It was also said that the group "made statements that are contrary to Canadian values"

The justification for that decision, is backed up by one simple statement, from the mouth of Canada’s 21st Prime Minister, Paul Martin: “we have understood in Canada for some time now, that Israel’s values are Canada’s values.” (2005, United Jewish Communities’ General Assembly, Toronto.)

Which in itself is untrue, in almost every way. Matin Lukacs has a far more extensive delve into this unusual relationship between Israel, Canada and the United States. You can read the full article on The Breach - https://breachmedia.ca/why-canada-supports-israel-colonialism-palestine/

This bold statement made by former Prime Minister Paul Martin has since been reinforced by many of his successors, with the phrase “Canada stands with Israel” echoed through the years, regardless of their political parties beliefs. That very same echo reverberates in the chests of children, in the shapes of bullets that your taxes pay for.

This statement, and Canada's unwillingness to stand for anything unless the U.S passes their okay is just the surface of a much larger problem. A problem I fear nobody is taking seriously. In these times of quick headlines and declining literacy rates— I urge you- watch your government. Watch their patterns, Watch their donations. It's time to stop being complacent in genocide, it's time to stop dancing around censored words and blurred images.

Our universities aren’t just complicit in genocide, they actively coordinated nationwide to violently crush student organizing, and then they destroyed the evidence.
During the 2024 Palestine encampments, administrators across Canada set up a covert surveillance network to suppress Charter-protected protests according to incredible investigative work by @thebreachmedia. this secret coordination led directly to militarized police raids where riot cops brutalized peaceful students with batons and flashbangs.
When journalists filed access-to-information requests, these institutions panicked. They delayed the releases, lied about records existing, and blatantly deleted entire group chats to cover their tracks.

The Breach reported that Canadian universities operated a national effort to coordinate surveillance and policing of anti-genocide activism and encampments.

These are the schools they said were involved. If you work, study or ever studied at one of these, consider phoning and writing to the administrators.

Stop pretending Canadian universities are neutral bastions of academic freedom.

A landmark report from @justpeaceadvocates and a major investigation by @thebreachmedia @drugdatadecoded @thebreachcommunity just exposed what’s actually happening behind closed doors on our campuses.

Behind the progressive PR lies a multi-million-dollar machine funding Israeli settler-colonial occupation - and systematically silencing students who speak out.

The same logic that bulldozes homes is the logic that manufactures homelessness, then punishes people for the very crisis it created. Displaced, then criminalized, incarcerated, and made to disappear.

That’s not a broken system, it’s a system working exactly as designed.

Housing Inc. names the architects. The 2026 CBC Massey Lectures put that discussion on stage in five cities this fall. And later this year, The Shift is taking it further; a national campaign to challenge the people who built this, and those who have the power to change things.

Presale is open for the lectures and the book. Link in bio.
