Adelboden, 🇨🇭- This magical town wasn’t on our radar until we planned this trip and wow was it special. Already looking forward to the day we can come back.

Imagine soaking in a heated outdoor pool surrounded by the Swiss Alps, without a care in the world… and having drinks brought directly to you while you’re still in the water. Yes, this is reality at The Brecon Adelboden!

What makes this place even more special is that it’s an all-inclusive, adults-only Alpine retreat with just 22 rooms and suites, designed to feel more like a private mountain home than a traditional hotel. Your stay includes breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, selected drinks and cocktails, and access to the guest-only spa, complete with a sauna, steam room and outdoor pool.

Built in 1914, the building also has a fascinating past: it was once known as the Waldhaus and became a glamorous gathering place during the 1950s and ’60s.

The most perfect stay…

🏡 The Brecon, Adelboden

A slice of Wales in the Swiss Alps. Effortless, alpine chic.

As a Welsh expat living in Switzerland, this one was pretty special.

Less like a hotel, more like the mountain home of an exceptionally generous friend. The Brecon is all about the atmosphere: warm mid-century design, rich textures, and perfect art pieces curated by Bisou Gallery. Every window frames a dramatic peak, with natural mountain light spilling across every detail. It makes the whole stay feel delightfully cozy. 🏔️️✨

Heat, then cold, then stillness. Repeat until the afternoon has gone. And then there is the shower. You stand in it slightly too long, looking at the Alps, and something in your week quietly resolves itself. 🧘‍♂️ Hotel photography. Spa and wellness.

Some places make it wonderfully easy to slow down.

Tucked into the Swiss Alpine village of Adelboden, @thebrecon is an intimate, adults-only retreat where thoughtful design meets the warmth of a mountain home.

Just 22 rooms and suites, beautifully considered interiors by @nicemakers, an outdoor heated pool overlooking the Alps, and a refreshingly simple all-inclusive philosophy. From morning coffee to evening cocktails, everything is taken care of.

A place where the mountains set the pace and the little details make all the difference.

What an absolute honour to teach at @thebrecon

Who knew that my jaw would be what’s aching the most after the amount of laughing I did.

I always thought retreats had to be quite restrictive and serious. This was the absolute opposite.

Low light, held at lamp height. Stone underfoot, cool in the morning and warm by evening. A timber grid overhead that makes the ceiling feel close in the way a good one does.

Nothing matches. Tufted leather beside bouclé, a green grid rug under a dark table, ochre velvet across from checked wool. It should argue. It doesn’t.

Everything sits low. Everything invites a longer stay than you planned. No screens, nothing lit too brightly, nothing asking to be noticed first.

It is the opposite of minimal, and it knows it. Softer, browner, warmer, slower.

@thebrecon. Easy to arrive at, hard to leave. Interior design photography
