Some people teach you how to work a horse. Others change the way you see one. It has been a lifelong dream to spend time learning from Buck Brannaman.

I’m going to go ahead and say something big. Not only was he personally taught by two of the most influential horsemen, he’s absolutely already one of the greats himself. He is a reminder that good horsemanship isn’t about how much you can get done, but how much you can understand between each other. Why timing matters. When to offer up a good deal and when that good deal expires.

“Horses are a mirror to your souls.”

It is such a pleasure to have a horse that is not influenced by anyone but you 🤎

Last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to ride in a Buck Brannaman clinic with some of my very good friends. One of the COOLEST things was to see all of the UMM cinches out in the wild.🐆 It is amazing how fast my small business has grown right along side my horsemanship journey. Style is important, but comfort for the horse comes above all else. 🧡

"Be particular, don’t be picky." -Buck Brannaman

This past weekend riding with Buck sparked a lot of new questions for me about horsemanship as a whole. I started paying more attention to the finer details that will put us further along in our journey to creating the "dance". It really is something how the horse wants to and will respond to the lightest feel, but only once you figure out how to offer it to them with the good deal.

And on top of all of that, I have the bestest friends to share this love with, which always includes tailgate lunches, margs, and good times! ☀️

The word and theme of the weekend that resonated the most with me was balance. It struck me entirely just how important and how much influence it has, mentally and physically on a horse.

It’s our job to keep them balanced, not throw them off of it. It directly influences their want to work with us, and how far they are willing to go.

It’s so beautiful and so humbling to watch Buck riding, every single time. The undoubted willingness his horse has to make any move for him. And how everything is indeed in perfect balance.

It always feels like I’m heading back to the drawing board after a clinic like this to dig a little deeper. I can’t wait to keep working and see how much things change in another year from now.

An extraordinary weekend. Getting to spend another few days furthering our education and digging deeper within ourselves for our horses. This clinic I found myself amongst this special group of ladies that is so dedicated to this lifestyle too. We felt the power of joy and strength in unity. We felt it from one another, and our horses mirrored it too.

Every clinic with Buck, it feels impossible to absorb everything. But the beauty is that bits and pieces present themselves at different times as we continue work on and interpret our craft after the clinic.

Cheers to a weekend filled with laughter and smiles, pushing ourselves a little bit further, our horses feeling more support from us, and to such a special clinician being hosted at @risinghopeequestriancenter for the first time. We surely hope he will be back. 🤍
