Super honored to receive a challenge coin from the Town of Melbourne Beach and to be recognized at the Melbourne Independent Film Festival’s Manatee Matinée, featuring the debut of @thebundaverse’s The Greatest Manatee Story Ever Told! 🩵🌊

We all know Melby through the tales we tell, but the real story is even more remarkable: Melby almost never made it back to Brevard County’s lagoons. There was a push for him to remain at SeaWorld, and his return was far from guaranteed.

But the Melby movement had other plans. Thanks to the collective energy of a community that refused to give up, along with the work of Lear and town officials, Melby made it home.

His story is a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together, raises its voice, and refuses to let go of something worth fighting for.

Stay tuned for more screenings of this heartwarming, hilarious, and very real story of one manatee who made waves far beyond the lagoon. 🐋💙 #melbythemanatee #florida #melbournebeach #childrensbooks
