As your child’s speech and language develops, tongue twisters can be a fun way to introduce a linguistica game.

Their regular recitation stimulates control of the muscles responsible for speech, ensuring a clearer pronunciation of words with difficult syllables, as well as expanding a child’s vocabulary.

This might seem silly, but really it’s a game changer!

How many of you have had moments where you look over at your toddler doing some seriously questionable stuff and just think to yourself, “what in the world are you doing🤯?!”I know I had these moments at least 10 times a day in my classroom🤣

But, when I started thinking of my toddlers as little cave people, it really put things in perspective. We have to meet these kiddos where they are at! But how?

By using language and modeling that shows them what to do, rather than what not to do. They want SO BADLY to know EVERYTHING! So, let’s teach them!!

So, the next time your toddler is crawling under the table eating crumbs off the floor, try saying “crumbs go in the trash!” Watch as your toddler looks at you like, “OH!” Then starts throwing away all the crumbs.

Or, maybe your toddler is standing on a chair. Instead of, “GET DOWN!”…try “chairs are for sitting!” and guide their body to a sitting position.

BUT keep in mind, a toddlers impulse control is far from being fully developed. So while they are throwing away those crumbs, they will probably end up sneaking a few more into their mouth because they simply can’t help it!

And don’t forget that repetition and consistency is key!

🎤 Singing to mom while she’s sad and bed ridden. I seriously have the sweetest boy 🥰

He knows mommy isn’t feeling well. I tried to keep my tears hidden from him but he must have heard me say I was scared.

He asked me “mommy are you still scared?” My heart broke. I told him no, but that wasn’t true. I’m terrified.

I told him mommy’s tummy hurt and he proceeded to kiss my belly and tell me he loved me. Then he asked “are you happy now?” ❤️ He obviously wanted to do everything he could to cheer me up.

Despite knowing now that I won’t be able to have any more children, I’m so blessed to have him. He is my world and he shows me strength in times that I don’t think I have it.

He teaches me things every day!

His little concert, although very loud and off tune, made me very happy and took my mind off of what’s going on in my body right now.

Who knew a 3 year old could make such an impact! ❤️

‘Stop crying’ isn’t a term you’ll hear me use. I always acknowledge the emotion and help them to problem solve a solution on their own. ‘You’re sad because your toy broke. That is a bummer. Do you think we can fix it?’ Within seconds of saying that usually they perk up and are excited for the new challenge of fixing it.
Shutting down emotions early on is just the tip of the iceberg for anger issues. We must do better for our boys.

🥱 To add to the diaries of a tired mom life >> the weekend with a toddler 😳

All before noon time today, he has put together a toy model train, had multiple dance parties, sang songs, played with other toys, ate cookies (and demanded more), played with grandpa, chased grandpas puppy around, and so much more!

He’s been a very busy boy this Saturday and this mama is VERY tired.

I have to go in for overtime tonight at work and haven’t slept. Having patience with a toddler when you’re so sleep deprived is not easy!

I’m thankful for my parents watching him while we work! It takes a LOT of stress off and I know a 3 year old is a LOT to handle!

What shenanigans have your toddlers gotten into this weekend?

when remodeling the kids room, my main goal was to provide a “yes space” for them. i wanted their room to be a place where they rarely heard “no” & where they felt safe to play and learn however they saw fit. a Montessori floor bed was the first step in accomplishing this goal simply because of these four reasons.

🛏 allows freedom of movement: gives the child the ability to move about the room and refine their gross and motor skills/movements.

🛏 promotes independence: the child is given the opportunity to be more independent by getting ready in the morning & for bedtime

🛏 encourages decision making: the child is given the FREEDOM to CHOOSE when to get out of bed and what to do once out of bed

🛏 gives respect: by providing accessible child-sized furniture, you are telling the child that this is their space and you trust them.

❗️DISCLAIMER: a floor bed is not for every parent and every child. a floor bed should only be used in a safe bedroom, if the child can move on and off the bed safely and within limits set by the parents.

Still working hard on those stairs over here 💪

Let’s think about the skills your people already have mastered. It took strategic, repeated practice on their end and yours (let’s get real here 🦸🏻‍♀️🦸🏾‍♂️🥇⭐️🍪) to master those skills.

As you think about those next set of skills you want your people to master, remember:

✨Slow down, you’re doing fine 😘 ✨
