I spent years worrying that I was too loud, too opinionated, too emotional, too much—I’ve been labeled the girl who talks too much my whole life.

And then someone handed that girl a microphone. A real one. Plugged in. Volume loud.

I was asked to stand in a room filled with service members, military spouses, leaders, and advocates—and use my voice.

Not a quieter version of it.
Not a filtered version designed to make everyone comfortable.
Mine.

The voice shaped by deployments, reintegration, motherhood, advocacy, heartbreak, humor, and years of learning that our stories matter.

Standing there, I knew I had been preparing for this long before I ever realized it. Every hard season, every uncomfortable conversation, and every time I chose to speak when staying quiet would have been easier was teaching me how to use my voice for good. God has been preparing me to use the gifts he gave me.

So I’ll say it again, it’s not a competition when we’re on the same team. There is room for every story, every season, and every person willing to show up for someone else.

So it’s time to keep the volume turned up.

Be too loud.
Be too annoying.
Be the girl who talks too much.

Use your voice. Make room. Pull up another chair.

It’s time we build a bigger table. 🔨 we’re just getting started.

I’m home.
I’m exhausted.
I’m still missing the voice I need to give my kids their marching orders…😆
And I’m already looking forward to next year!!

Last year, I showed up as a fly on the wall. This year, I came back with two of my business besties to lead a panel on something we believe in deeply: building relationships in business is a CRITICAL part of building a business that lasts💯

Karen and Erin, I LOVE you guys🥹 Thank you for doing the scary thing with me and getting up on that stage!! And Chelsey, you were the best addition to our little roommate crew. We laughed so much and made so many memories I’ll be talking about for a long, long time!

The sessions and speakers are incredible, but some of the best parts of MIC happen when you’re just sitting on a couch talking to someone. People share their unique areas of expertise, introduce you to connect you with people they know, and ask how they can support what you’re building. I got to hug so many old friends, finally meet people I’d only known online, and leave with new friendships I’m excited to keep growing

You really should meet your heroes. Turns out they’re pretty great☺️

What @curtezriggs and the MIC team has built is so special. It is definitely worth the investment of your time, talent, and treasure to be in that room💯

I have no idea what capacity I’ll come back in next year…but I know for certain, I WILL be back🖤💪🏽

I knew I wanted to come to MIC since last year. I came in with a plan for what talks I wanted to see and who I wanted to meet, but no expectations. I ended up meeting incredible new friends (not all pictured here) and more connections than I thought possible. The amount of people willing to help, teach, mentor and go above and beyond to make connections is incredible. Instead of competition it felt like a rising tides raise all ships kind of thing. Thank you @militaryinfluencer you’ve built something special and cannot wait to see how you grow.
