After 13 years, we returned to @thecastello for a seated reserved wine tasting on a sunny Saturday morning. This was delightful experience that took us over 90 minutes. The tasting permits each person to try 5 wines, but our generous host (and Italian native) Lorenzo wanted to make sure we did not miss his ‘favorites’ so he added many additional pours, one of which was a delicious Barbera (we now have 2 bottles!). We had no intention of buying any wine today, but we left with four bottles, all made in the Italian style..
Wine tasting has changed in the Napa Valley. It has become more of a relaxed experience for serious wine drinkers. It is also a lot more expensive. We had vouchers for our visit, but had we paid, this experience would have been 60$, a piece…but worth it.
