The root word of "fundamental" is the Latin word fundamentum, meaning "foundation" or "groundwork".

We all know without a solid foundation, the structure built above is weak.

@instructor_zee and @preparetoperform will help you construct a strong foundation at the next S12 Experience.

Being capable of shooting well is a tiny component of being capable. Emergency Medical interventions-Grappling-Legal Use of Force-Becoming the calm in the storm.

There’s a lot more to @gavinsanity_ than just being one of the best grapplers in the world.

This ADCC recap episode of @truthserumpod was such a good conversation.

A little over 2 weeks until Rob Wilson ( @thecheckenginelight ) is back for an upcoming seminar exploring performance, recovery, and resilience.

We hosted Rob earlier in the year for a smaller seminar and it was so good that we had to get him back asap.

Rob will take us through three key areas:

⚙️ Performance Longevity — looking beyond what you can do today and building a framework for long-term performance and health.

📊 Load Management & Recovery — using subjective and objective metrics to better understand how training, exercise, and life stress affect the athlete — and how to get more from the same training effort.

🫁 Breathing Strategies — practical techniques to stay calm and focused under pressure, manage stress, and transition more effectively into recovery.

Expect a highly interactive day combining practical work, case studies, group discussion, and plenty of opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.

This seminar is open to coaches and trainees - everyone will get something from this.

It will be €100 for the day. Discount for SDSC members.

DM for more info or to book a spot.

We are delighted to announce on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of October we have Rob Wilson (@thecheckenginelight ) back for a seminar and we are also bringing Mladen Jovanovic (@physical_prep) to Dublin for a weekend seminar that promises to be one of our best ones yet.

Rob will be sharing his knowledge again and looking more into volume / load management and breathing strategies.

Mladen is someone that has had a huge influence on my career as a coach through his books and online content and I am very much looking forward to meeting him in person and bringing him to SDSC.

Each day is €100 euro and spaces are filling up fast!

From a quick outing w the Tottenham Hotspur Health & Performance staff —

A governing heuristic of complex systems is “the component parts of a system are important, but how they interact and interrelate is more important”

As this relates to sprinting —
“the shapes an athlete creates in space [the parts] are important, but how they connect [i.e. “coordinate”] in space and TIME [i.e. the patterns] is more important.”

Learning about shapes is typically our first step in understanding how things move. It’s a great starting point. But to really understand movement in totality, we have to appreciate how these shapes connect; how they coordinate. And this is really hard.

I put together a couple of models to help us make sense of both shapes and patterns.

From 2018, w Dan Pfaff — the @altis kinogram method helps coaches understand the parts of sprinting — the important shapes.

From 2026 — the 4 Ps helps coaches understand the interconnected patterns of gait, breaking up an almost impossible to understand complex movement [sprinting] into smaller component parts.

We reduce to make sense.
All models are wrong.
Some are useful.

These two are useful to me
They may also be to you.
