Last supper together with @marybethbonfiglio in Sicilia at one of our all time favorite spots in Palermo, Osteria Alivàru da Carlo Napoli @alivaru_dacarlo! Seasonal ingredients, big Sicilian flavors, simple but elevated preparations, made with love and care. Put this place at the top of your list because Carlo is the real deal. You will find the most authentic Palermitan vibes here at his table.

1. Amici, Carlo & Marybeth, add stunning backdrop
2. Caponata perfection
3. Caciocavallo all’Argentiera, pan fried cheese with vinegar
4. Spaghetto Pistacchio
5. Polpette di Sarde, sardine meatballs with raisins & pine nuts in a tomato sauce
6. Marybeth caught in a cute-to-me moment, speaking animatedly while tearing her pane

Not pictured: @thecheekychef who we missed dearly, and only the best @aldoviolavini 🥂

Simona’s skin care secrets from Pantelleria: the nature and the sea, the volcanic mud, vegetables, fish, and good olive oil. Linda kept the whole afternoon going, translating and stomping grapes with us. What we took home: beauty is smiling and laughing with the people you love. Thank you, Simona and Linda. 🫒🍇

Curious about what it's like to be part of Community Council?

@buchergabriel of @luzca_films captured it so beautifully last April: the long tables, slow mornings, real conversations about the work of building belonging, and the kind of trust that only happens when a small group gets the time and space to go deep.

Spring 2027 applications are open.
Join us April 13–16 at Château de Courtomer.

Applications close November 6.

I’m still thinking about this meal from September 2 in Sicilia. With only three days together in Palermo, we asked our amica Linda @thecheekychef what restaurant should not be missed. Corona, she replied. We listened, of course.
The menu is fish-centric, so to eat as the Palermitans do…

1. Tartare di tonno. Dressed with the finest, grassiest olive oil.
2. One of the best glasses of sparkling ever, poured by our stellar host/owner/sommelier @oricorona. Wish I took a pic of the bottle.
3. Insalata di mare. Delicate, bright and fresh.
4. Acciuga bianca pasta. Light, refreshing, umami.
5. Pasta c’Anciuova e Muddica. Deeply rich red sauce made with estratto, raisins, pine nuts, anchovies and breadcrumbs.
6. Fish special of the day. Wasn’t sure how to translate which fish it was, but I did understand the agrodolce onions happening on top of it, which made it explode with flavor.
7. Sesame semolina bread of my dreams, to scarpetta all of what was left on each plate.
8. Gelo di anguria. Watermelon pudding. The absolute perfect dessert for the 100 degree weather.
9. Biancomangiare. Almond pudding, topped with nuts and chocolate.

Grazie mille, @coronatrattoria, tutto era buonissimo davvero! 🫶🐟🍽️

On Season Two of Eating Dirty we explore Mercato Ballarò with Linda @thecheekychef where we ran into an old friend from Season 1 — Salvatore and his prickly pears!

Think that was a throwback? How about seeing our friends from Trattoria Bersagliere who remember seeing me in my Dolce Vita days! Che bello😘
