The @OldPubClub dined tonight at @TheClintonHouse a building in Clinton, NJ, that dates back to the late 1820s, around the time the local area transitioned from Hunt’s Mills to Clinton, though it traces its hospitality roots on Main Street to 1743. Historically, the site served as a vital tavern, inn, and restaurant providing respite for stagecoach travelers moving between New York and Pennsylvania. 283 years later the #OldPubClub brings their love of dining in historic venues to this Jersey gem. We had a varied selection of entrees and cocktails 🍸 that were enjoyed by all. Clinton is a walkable town and we checked out the Red Mill, bridge and waterfall. Our night ended with dessert at the @ClintonCreamery with delicious cups and cones all around.

Historic charm + seriously good food 🍷✨ @theclintonhouse in Clinton, NJ has been serving up memorable meals since 1743, making it one of the oldest restaurants in New Jersey! We tried the mango beet salad, a PERFECT charcuterie board, the lobster BLT (I could eat this every day 😍), and the seared blackened tuna. And of course, we had to cheers to their extensive wine list! 🍷🥂 Don’t forget to check out their cellar drops for some fun finds! 📍Clinton, NJ | North Hunterdon County #ClintonNJ #HunterdonCounty #NorthHunterdonCounty #NJFoodie #NJRestaurants NewJerseyFood NJFood JerseyEats ClintonHouse NJFoodTravel NewJerseyRestaurants

I love Vermont! I am also fond of Vermont’s Caledonia Spirits and their @barrhillgin brand. Barr Hill uses locally-sourced raw honey in its distillations. Last night - and corresponding with Bee’s Knees Week, I attended a Barr Hill cocktail /food pairing event at the historic Clinton House. The cocktail menu included a Bloody Mary, Bees Knees, Tom Cat Gin Old-Fashioned (w/ black walnut bitters), a Vodka Collins and Espresso Martini. A pour of Vermont rye whiskey “Phyllis” was also available. Food offerings included chicken & waffles, smoked salmon & dill, a Hungarian pork dish, grilled tuna, and chocolate pudding. My favorite cocktail was the Tom Cat Gin Old-Fashioned - it tasted like a whiskey cocktail! Tom Cat gin has a brown color gained from its six months aged in a charred new American Oak barrel. It’s also finished with a touch of raw honey. Vodka typically tastes like vodka. Barr Hill’s vodka surprised me. It’s actually sippable neat with its subtle honey notes and has a luxurious mouth feel. Thank you Gary Vecchiarelli from Barr Hill, and to @theclintonhouse for hosting this wonderful event! . . . . . . . . . . #BeesKneesCocktail #PollinatorWeek #BeesKneesWeek #ClintonHouse #Cocktails
