1991 Marvel Universe Series 2 - #43 She-Hulk and #59 Galactus

Pencils and inks by Art Adams

This is a big, big pick up for me. Series 2 was my intro to the entire comic hobby as a child and was hence the first time I ever saw Silver Surfer (yes, one day I hope to find that OA) and was blown away when I flipped the card to see his power ratings. Then learning of his story I learned of Galactus. Upon seeing his card I was once again blown away. Not only from his power ratings but this powerful image delivered by Art Adams. Just a show stopper. Definitely one of my favorite and most memorable cards of my childhood.

Additionally, the She-Hulk is also no slouch. Plus, I already own the Series 3 She-Hulk art, so that's fun and I guess means I need to find her Series 1 OA.

NEW EPISODE! In case you were wondering where this modern classic by the great @robliefeld went, here’s the scoop on ScoopFlow @thecomicroom ☕️

Brant tracked down the original cover to the first comic he ever bought as a kid. Proof that anything is possible. Loyal to modern creators like Daniel Warren Johnson, our shared love for Liefeld, sitting on some real stone-cold classics too. 🔗 in bio☝️

Now in hand. I think this is Silvestri’s best Batman cover. Such a powerful piece. Batman kneels at his parents murder scene while the skeletal couple looms. Martha Wayne’s pearls scattered on the ground. A symbolic image signifying the violent destruction of his childhood. The line work is incredible. This will go nicely next to my Lee Hush. Thank you to @marc_silvestri for making this badass cover.

War Comics 2 CGC 4.5 with OW/White pages from 1943, only 7 copies on census with 7.5 being the highest grade. I absolutely love this cover and the colors are insane for the age. I still hold resentment to @spectorcomics for once again using horrifying terror tactics to force books upon people. It’s unjust and I’ve already reached out to Bono of @u2 for help.

Wow Comics 12 CGC 7.5 from 1943 with OW/White pages, Rockford pedigree / Canadian White and lone highest graded. First appearance of my grandpa meeting my other grandpa.

My Friday morning late entry for #throwdownthursday with @wolviefan @unstoppablecomics51 @jnguye1

The challenge this week was X-men covers. Three good ones have already been listed, go check them out if you haven’t already!

‘My submission is this full team shot by @Adamkubert from the X-men 372 (the shattering)

Is Marrow still a character anymore? I thought she was so cool and underused in the 90s.

Vote for your favorite submission this week below!

In the 90s there were very few things I enjoyed more than a good Wolverine/Sabretooth fight! I was fortunate enough to get to meet and speak with Mark Texiera at a convention in 2016 and he signed the cover for me there. Maybe someone more knowledgeable or with better eyesight than me can tell me who the other signature belongs to. Mark was super nice and very generous with his time. Getting to meet another of my favorite childhood artists was the highlight of that show for me. I remember him asking me how much I paid for the cover and while I won’t share his exact response here I remember thinking to myself “crap I overpaid” 😂 but this is a cover I would happily “overpay” for every time. This is my only piece of Tex’s artwork I own and I feel very lucky to have it.
