I'm excited to share that I'm part of Culture in Action at the Calgary Justice Film Festival (@calgaryjusticefilm) at The Confluence (@theconfluence_yyc)!

Come see me there on November 6th at 7:30pm and on November 7th at 5:30pm in the White Box, where I will be performing parts of my mixtape "if you don't like it, then leave."

It's a free performance and art experience as part of the festival. Come early for a film, stay late after, or just stop by without seeing a film at all. Everyone is welcome!

🎶 CULTURE IN ACTION: MEET JOSHUA BEEBE

We’re excited to welcome Indigenous singer-songwriter and storyteller Joshua Beebe to CJFF 2026.

A member of Pimicikamak Cree Nation based in Southern Alberta, Joshua creates music rooted in lived experience and the belief that even the hardest parts of our lives can become something that connects us.

Through folk, indie, and country-influenced songs, he explores grief, healing, poverty, family, Indigenous experience, love, resilience, and what it means to keep finding a way forward.

Whether performing solo or with The Forest Orchestra, Joshua wants his performances to feel less like a traditional concert and more like a shared experience — with room for sadness, humour, hope, reflection, and the stories we sometimes struggle to tell.

At the centre of it all is a simple idea: our stories matter. And when we share them honestly, we can help each other feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.

Come experience Joshua’s music and storytelling as part of Culture in Action.

What does it take to keep the lights on when the frontline is just 10 kilometres away?

THE LAST PROMETHEUS OF DONBAS follows the energy workers at the last operating power plant in eastern Ukraine as they continue working under constant shelling.

Day after day, they risk their lives to keep electricity flowing — until the plant is destroyed and they are forced to evacuate.

Their story is one of courage, duty, and the people working to keep everyday life going in the midst of war.

See THE LAST PROMETHEUS OF DONBAS at CJFF 2026.

We are inviting Indigenous artists and community members to submit moccasin designs that will be used as part of The Wandering Spirit, a permanent Indian Residential School memorial being installed at The Confluence in 2027.

The core of the new memorial is a wall of cast children’s shoes, representing the unknown number of children and families impacted by the Residential School system. The selected moccasin designs will be interspersed throughout the wall, bringing the presence and stories of artists, community members and Residential School survivors into the memorial.

The Wandering Spirit, a collaboration with Siksika artist Adrian Stimson and landscape architecture company groundcubed, was selected through a design competition endorsed by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. The project was developed by the Indigenous Relations Office at The City of Calgary and will provide a space for gathering, ceremony and healing.

Applications are due on November 25, 2026.
