A few weeks ago, we supplied furniture for @eventsbyjames’ new workshop series, The Considered Space.

The Marquee Edition brought together planners, florists and photographers to explore how temporary structures can be transformed into spaces that feel architectural, intentional, and grounded in place.

And, as ever, it was a good reminder that furniture is never just furniture.

It affects the proportions of a room, the way people move through it, where they gather and ultimately how the space feels.

We loved seeing our pieces become part of this one and were thrilled to also attend the event as guests in the evening.

Some rooms are designed to be looked at.
The best ones are designed to be felt.

The Considered Space was never really about the marquee, or the table, or the light coming through the trees at golden hour — though we sweated every one of those details.

It was about what happens when you get the room right, and people forget to reach for their phones.

Two days of workshops. Two long table in the Fulham Palace walled garden. And an industry that showed up for each other.

Yes, I line up glassware with a piece of string. No, I will not be apologising.

Build day at The Considered Space: marquee installed without a lining, I knelt on a gravel path more times than I can count, and at one point I described a very expensive tool as “absolute nonsense.” But this is the bit nobody sees — the hours of tiny decisions before a single guest walks in. Whether the plates sit a hand-width from the edge. Whether the glasses land in one perfect line. It’s never about perfection for its own sake; it’s that when everything’s considered, people feel it, even if they can’t say why.

Tell me the most unhinged thing you do in the name of getting the details right. I need to know I’m not alone here. 🧵

Detailaholics, this one’s for you 👀

Something I say to nearly every couple who comes to me wanting a marquee at home: it will not save you money. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.

What it will give you is an empty field and total control. And if you’re the sort of person who has genuine opinions about napkin folds (hi, me too) that is the most exciting sentence in the world.

No inherited carpet. No house chairs. No wedding rolling out two hours before yours rolls in.

Just your garden, and every single decision yours to make.

Indulgent? Completely. Worth it? Ask me after the last dance 🤍
