POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This past week I had the honor of presenting my brother and fellow San Diego native @nickcannon with my office’s Key to the Movement the highest honor established by the Office of the San Diego Public Advocate to recognize individuals who have advanced social justice and humanitarian excellence in the spirit and tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Long before the world knew Nick as an entertainer and entrepreneur, San Diego was home. And even as his platform grew, he continued pouring into young people here and across California from creating opportunities around youth entrepreneurship and career development in San Diego schools, to standing alongside families and advocates in Sacramento fighting for police accountability and justice after the killing of Stephon Clark, to consistently using his voice around gun violence, criminal justice reform and opportunity for underserved communities.

I’ve been blessed to work beside Nick in some of that work over the years not just in San Diego but across California and the nation. He’s been like a brother to me — someone whose independence, courage and determination to build his own lane have always inspired me to do the same.

That’s why Nick Cannon is exactly what the Key to the Movement represents.

It’s not about celebrity. It’s about what you do with the platform you’ve been given, who you fight for, who you lift up and what doors you leave open behind you.

From San Diego to the world, congratulations, big bro. Keep moving the movement forward. 🔑✊🏾

Random ahh appreciation post! There a tiny bit of disbelief but I’m juggling the life between being a full time healthcare worker and now, after a discussion yesterday, the weird self-realization came up that basically working like a full time musician at this point LOL 🤣

Finding the balance is tough! However, it feels real good to keep up with the homies who’ve been at this. Yall paved the way for me to fully explore this side of myself. We do this not for the bag, but for the love of the game. I’m blessed my circle has so supportive of me since day one and yall still push me today.

S/O to my A1s from C1D1 (this a work joke) who’ve literally seen me crawl into a run these past five years

thank yall for sharing your good energy with me. I’m continually blessed and grateful 🙏🏽
