You asked for it: PEC Repair Café is back this fall at @peclibrary on November 7th 🔨

- the intention -

🚮 Reduce waste by repairing and re-using your things
🛠️ Share skills and learn new ones through mutual aid
👯‍♂️ Meet your neighbours and community
⛅️ Get out to enjoy your local library

- the invitation -

Similar to our annual Spring event, this smaller Fall version helps prevent common household items from ending up in the trash/landfill by bringing them to the PEC Repair Café! It’s an opportunity to have your item(s) repaired for FREE* by rad community volunteers who believe in a shared responsibility of care and maintenance for the items we own and use.

Meet skilled community members who will help you diagnose your repair and take the necessary steps to complete** it with you. We are focusing on offering repairs for items in these categories:

👚 fabrics/clothing
📺 electronics
💡 household items
🔪 sharpening
🔌 small appliances
🪑 small furniture / wooden items
🚲 bicycles

In order to best share resources among all visitors to the Repair Café, please be mindful to bring up to 5️⃣ items for repair.

*We encourage those who can to bring a donation to the Library’s Community Pantry (food, personal care items, or pet food) or a cash donation to the @loyalist_humane_society in exchange for support at the Repair Café. A donation jar and box will be on-site.

**Although many common repairs are possible to achieve at the Repair Café, it’s not always possible to fully fix all items as it depends on the skills, materials, and time available for each unique repair.

- the resources -

Bring your item(s) for repair with all their broken parts/pieces and clean if possible. If you have the materials you believe you need to fix or replace the issue, but don’t have the skills to do so, please bring them also! We will have some spare parts and general fixing materials on-hand.

The Repair Café is free to attend.

We had a blast at the @pictonfair, @milfordfallfair and @ameliasburghfallfair this year 🩵

Over the past month Baxter engaged hundred of kiddos through the beauty of art and craft. Many thanks to @_sharonhart for being at the fairs and being a bright light for parents and kiddos.

Our attendance at these fairs was made possible through the PEC Arts Fund and @thecountyfoundation. Beyond grateful for their support and allowing us meet and engage with hundred of families this fall season!

These frogs have a lot to sing about! Hear what they have to say TODAY at 6 PM in The Delhi Pageant!

🐸🐸🐸

The Delhi Pageant is a large-scale community spectacle that weaves together art, music and performances to create a stunning, immersive celebration of Delhi Park’s past, present and future. Narrated by the Warden of the Wilds, who has watched over this land since the beginning of time, it is a moving tale that explores Picton’s roots, the stewardship of the land, and the evolution of Delhi Park. The pageant’s message is simple: take care of each other, take care of the land. This outdoor production is a magical love letter to Picton’s green gem that will delight audiences of all ages.

There is one performance only in Picton’s Delhi Park, Saturday August 22 at 6 pm. Admission is free although donations are welcome (cash preferred). Some seating will be provided but if you’d like you can bring your own chair or blanket.

If driving use Lalor St. entrance, or park at the Mary Street parking lot and walk down the hill (approx. 5 minute walk).

Shortly after our very first Prince Edward County Residency in 2017, @lynnhubbs, one of our first summer Alchemists shared this quote with us, from Paolo Coehlo. These words seem fitting to share to sum up our 2026 summer residency.

“This is why alchemy exists,” the boy said. “So that everyone will search for his treasure, find it, and then want to be better than he was in his former life… That’s what alchemists do. They show that, when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too. “
Our 2026 Summer Residency on Waupoos Island has come to end. We are so grateful to the artists who shared their studio practices and made art, food and conversation during our time together. Thank you to our hosts - Christine and Kyle @waupoosislandcamp, @mr_alex_schultz for sharing your Island stories and supper with us, @_sharonhart for bringing cyanotype and delicious pumpkin loaves to our studio and Krista Dalby @small_pond_arts and the @deptofillumination for a compelling Mainland talk and tour of your community engaged art practices. Special acknowledgement to @thecountyfoundation for their support which made it possible for Alchemy to invite two talented County artists to participate in this Residency. Until our paths cross again, @clairem.tallarico and @toniadirisio say thank you 🙏 to @juliehimel, @makerka564, @gayejackson8, @susanroy8 @margaretbuckworth.art, @annejacksonfineart @joolie_w #artistssupportingartists #artistsresidency #collaboration #artistsinresidence #canadianartist

Community, compassion and care, at a lovely and peaceful location — Kate’s Rest.

@katesrestpec_official — providing safe, healthy housing and fostering a sense of community to empower individuals to live well and contribute to society.

Thank you to The Huff Family Fund for their very generous donation of the new Phyllis Huff house and inviting us to their dedication ceremony. Amazing state of the art technology by @voltserver which is first of its kind in Canada — Digital electricity — safe, sustainable power. 💥

📣 It’s been 8 years since the Friends of the Wellington Museum converted a plain back lawn into a lush heritage garden and the time has come to give it an edit and introduce a greater variety of indigenous plants and flowers. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Donor Fund at the County Foundation for supporting this effort with a $3,500 grant. We are beyond grateful for this support - thank you!!!

🌼 The garden is open to the public 24/7 year round, has fully accessible pathways throughout, lots of seating and plays host to a wide range of community events.

🪴 Please come and enjoy our garden this summer and after the refresh is complete this fall.

😍 On the final day of the school year, we are wishing everyone a fun, restful, and book-filled summer break AND thanking everyone who contributed to the success of the inaugural year of Book Buddies - our new free literacy tutoring program!

🙌 To the 45 PECI Grade 1-3 students we supported in their literacy learning journeys, for bringing your awesome energy and efforts to our sessions

🙌 To our wonderful volunteers who gave 254 hours of their time, and so much love and dedication, to supporting students through 294 Book Buddies sessions

🙌 To the PECI teachers, library staff, administration, and parents who welcomed and believed in us and the potential of this program

🙏 AND of course - a HUGE thank you to the County of Prince Edward and The County Foundation for supporting the Book Buddies pilot project through the Municipal Community Grants program - for helping foster reading enjoyment and confidence for 45 County kids, adding 230 books to participants' home libraries, and enabling us to develop such an impactful program that we hope will continue for years to come!

👀 On that note, stay tuned for an announcement about the next phase of Book Buddies... we'll be back!

Celebrating community impact today in Prince Edward County! We were honoured to join other local organizations as @county.of.prince.edward Mayor Steve Ferguson and Dominique Jones from @thecountyfoundation presented this year’s Municipal Community Grants.
Thanks to this funding, more local children will have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities through Playing for Keeps and attend summer camp through Camps of Hope.
Thank you for helping create opportunities for children and youth across Prince Edward County!

We were proud to help @alternativesforwomen share their latest community initiative with this stand-up banner.

In partnership with the @thecountyfoundation , they’re working to build six new transitional housing units - creating safe, stable spaces for women in need.

With no ministry funding supporting this housing program, community support is essential. Their goal is to raise $1.5 million, and every dollar helps.

We’re always honoured to print materials that help bring awareness to projects making a real difference in our community 💙

Reach out to @alternativesforwomen to see how you can help!
