“[The knife] nicked me in the hand, shoulder, and the neck,” said Walsh. At the hospital, doctors told Noah Walsh that the knife missed his jugular vein by 1 millimeter.”

It’s a total myth that self-defenders in our state (and other states like it) are “set up for failure” by the courts. If that’s what you FEEL, get over it. It’s just not true.

We’re taking a page out of @rob_assetsonly’s book on this one. Get educated. Stay healthy. Train regularly. Be an asset, not a liability. 💪🏽

First time training with a pistol since my shoulder replacement—9 months ago. Having to relearn some things mechanically (radial nerve & reflexes) and be patient with this process.

Bottom line I no longer have pain in my left shoulder.

Remember, your body will eventually cash in those checks you wrote during your younger years playing Superman 🤪

Target setup:
Cardboard placed at 15 yds
Steel (6”x8”) plates at 25 yds

Be safe and have fun training this weekend 👊🏽

In New England, firearm homicide runs from 0.8 per 100,000 in New Hampshire, graded F by Giffords, to 1.9 in Connecticut, graded A, and in Vermont, graded B-minus. Across the states, poverty tracks firearm homicide at about 0.7, and the link with gun-law strength disappears once poverty is accounted for.

RAND rates specific laws, like child-access prevention and background checks, and I go through what those laws do in Massachusetts. Baltimore’s homicides dropped 23 percent in 2024, and New York’s shootings fell for a third straight year.

Where do shootings come from? Neighborhood disadvantage is one of the strongest predictors of gun violence exposure. Lead exposure has been tied to crime in decades of research, though the size of the effect is argued over and no one has isolated it for firearm homicide alone.

In Boston from 2019 to 2025, the areas the 1938 redlining map graded C and D have about seven times the shooting rate of the areas graded A and B. The data can’t separate the map from the poverty and disinvestment that followed it.

Next: Part 4, what works.

First HYROX event presented by @a2fitness_kcmo — I had No Training. No Preparation. Signed Up. Arrived Solo.

And somehow… I had a blast! 🔥 Now I completely understand why HYROX has become so popular. It’s the perfect combination of running, strength, endurance, and mental toughness.

The sandbag lunges, broad jump burpees, and wall balls were easily the most challenging for me. But that’s exactly what makes this experience so valuable. Moving forward, these will become strengths, not weaknesses.

My goal is to get strong enough in these movements that I don’t have to stop and “catch my wind” during the runs. I want to transition from the stations back into the run and keep moving.

Fatigue definitely played a role toward the end, and my watch was pretty accurate with how I was feeling. 😂 But the biggest time killer was the wall balls — nearly 15 minutes! 😳 Hit the watch late transitioning out the Roxzone.

No structured training. No real preparation. Solo. Just showed up, competed, learned, and had a blast.

Now I know exactly what I need to work on. 💪🏾🔥 This was only the beginning. HYROX has my attention. Thanks to @runitblakc for creating different strategies to allow us to be curious and challenge ourselves #workout #fitness #hyrox #motivation #run

🔥 I DIDN’T SHOW UP TO PLAY — I SHOWED UP TO GET BETTER. 🔥

Rifle Training 2 & 3 was an AMAZING weekend! 🎯💪🏽 Nothing beats putting in the work, challenging yourself, and leaving the range better than you showed up.

A SPECIAL SHOUTOUT to @thedonfirearms 🗣️🔥 Thank you for the knowledge, the coaching, the patience, and for pushing me to sharpen my skills. Your expertise and dedication to training definitely did not go unnoticed.

This is about more than pulling a trigger — it’s about discipline, confidence, consistency, and being responsible with the skills you develop.

I came to TRAIN.
I came to LEARN.
I came to GET BETTER.

And that’s exactly what I did. 💯

The work doesn’t stop here. This is only the beginning. 🔥🎯

While gun ownership in America has traditionally been culturally associated with conservatism, a growing movement of left-leaning and marginalized individuals are reclaiming firearm ownership.

Statistical data indicates that LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, are significantly more likely to experience violent crimes compared to cisgender people.

Many minority groups feel that state systems—such as law enforcement and the judicial branch—cannot be fully relied upon for immediate safety. Law enforcement cannot prevent an attack in progress; they usually respond after an incident occurs.

Some communities cite instances where authorities have been unsympathetic or openly hostile to trans individuals, women, and left-leaning activists, making personal accountability for safety feel like a necessity.

Armed self-defense has a deep history within civil rights and leftist movements. Groups like the Black Panthers famously utilized armed community patrols in the 1960s to protect neighborhoods from police brutality and racist violence. Figures like Malcolm X championed the right to armed self-defense, and even “peaceful leaders” like Martin Luther King Jr. initially sought a concealed carry permit after his house was firebombed.

True leftist firearm organizations differ fundamentally from “liberal” groups. While liberal gun clubs focus heavily on mainstream constitutional rights, safe sport shooting, and carving out a safe social space for Democrats within a conservative gun culture, leftist organizations ground gun ownership in anti-capitalism, class struggle, and organized community defense.

Leftist labor unions and striking workers frequently took up arms to protect themselves against corporate militias and state crackdowns.

Ultimately, the choice to train for #selfdefense or own a firearm is viewed by supporters as a pragmatic assertion of bodily autonomy and survival in an increasingly unpredictable world.
