Jekyll & Hyde - HPAC 2026

What can be said? I can only speak for myself coming into this show, it was a very scary thought. Much of my previous work prior to taking on this show was not always the best. The fear of the unknown always hits you walking into any audition room. However I kept my mind open, as there were so many wonderful people involved from the start. I am glad to see that I made it past the other side, and gained so much in the process.

There have been very few shows I've personally been a part of where everyone involved was so close. We shared meals, had many laughs, and got to share this incredible story of Evil and Good. To everyone pictured and those who are not, THANK YOU. You all were the most supportive and uplifting. I'm normally VERY self conscious about my singing abilities, and I am honored that I got to help carry this beautiful score alongside each of you. Thank you to the musicians in the pit, our amazing Stage Crew, Costumers, Will for his stellar lighting work, and Markis for running our sound too!

And finally a massive Thank You to Marsalis, for believing in me and trusting me to help bring this story to life. Until next time, "Nay!" 👨‍⚖️

Also peep the final slide. R.I.P. Simon, you would have hated this timeline. 🫡

Jekyll and Hyde opens in 1 week! Do you have your tickets yet?! 🎟️ Introducing more of our fabulous cast: Teal Davis as Sir Archibald Proops/Ensemble, Noah Evetts as Lord Savage/Ensemble, and Kristen Pevahouse as Nellie/Ensemble.

Teal on why you need to come see the show: It’s full of suspense and beautiful music! Everyone involved is extremely talented, and we all bring our own unique perspective to each role.

Noah’s favorite moment from the show: My favorite moment is the confrontation between Jekyll and Hyde, where the two characters fight for control of the body that they share, and morality of their decisions.

Kristen on the best part of rehearsals: The most fun part of being in Jekyll & Hyde is acting alongside my husband! I’m happy to share the stage with him and bring this story to life.

We can’t wait to bring this unforgettable story to life on our stage! Jekyll and Hyde runs Sept 17-Oct 4th. Grab your tickets or volunteer today. Link in our bio for both!

This past semester, we structured our New Works Playwright class differently. We invited local professional actors to classes early on to workshop the plays as they were being written.

By inviting actors to participate earlier on, the actors got to share their feedback and help our playwrights in the development process. It was very informative for our writers and the actors had so much fun!!

And guess what? ALL the actors who participated in those earlier readings (some pictured here with a group of our Playwrights) will be joining us for our upcoming New Works Festival! One of our actors will even be journeying across state lines to participate... (Thank you, Morgan! 🚗💖)

That is a testimony to the stories our Backlight playwrights have crafted. These are stories worth telling, stories that will make you laugh and transport you.

Just like our actors/collaborators, you won't want to miss it.
