To be quite honest, my birthday usually sucks. I even spent my 17 birthday moving my stuff out of my house in Crowley to be permanently in LA. One of the worst days of my life. And I’m almost always alone or traveling somewhere on it. I typically manage to take a trip back home with 2 or 3 of my homies for a few days to ride within a week or 2 of my birthday. Since then, my life has drastically changed. I did alot of looking back on the last few years of my life during this trip and i realized I was so mentally gone I didn’t understand left from right. I didn’t know who to trust or how to do life. Now…I know who I am. I’m surrounded by so many people that genuinely want the best for me and love me for who I am. This year I spent my birthday taking that family to my home and feeling safe enough to do it. I trust them. I’m thankful for them. They saved me and made me feel like a person again. I’ll never be able to thank them enough (especially the ones that put up with my really dumb ideas). I really got to spend my birthday back home with some of my best friends in the world riding pow in the sun with 0 lines, watch someone who’s never been on a snowboard learn how to ride all on her own in 1 day, to sunny park laps, chair 25 slashes, chair 14 double tomahawks, and SO much more. I’m speechless. For the first time in my life, my birthday wishes came true. All of them. To say I’m grateful is an understatement. Here’s to 31 🥲
