Iโ€™m looking to discover UK-based emerging contemporary artists to feature on The Exhibition Edit.

Iโ€™m interested in discovering artists with distinctive practices, interesting ideas and work that offers something engaging to explore.

Know an artist who might be a good fit?

Please tag them in the comments or send me a message with their Instagram account.

Iโ€™ll be looking through the recommendations and reaching out directly to artists Iโ€™d like to feature. Artists featured will need to be happy to share some details about their practice and open to discussing the ideas, themes and influences behind their work.

If you know an emerging artist whose work deserves sharing, Iโ€™d love to hear your recommendations.

Tag them below ๐Ÿ’œ

A-Level results day always makes me think about the version of me who thought one envelope was going to decide the rest of her life.

I was a high achiever at school. I left with 11 GCSEs and started four A-Levels with very clear plans for medicine or paramedicine. Then my mental health completely unravelled. I didnโ€™t even finish Year 12. While my friends were getting results, going to prom and heading off to university, I was back in a CAMHS inpatient unit.
For years afterwards I kept trying to force myself back onto the โ€œrightโ€ academic path - starting courses, trying to prove I was still clever, still capable, still worth something.

And then eventually I stopped.

I spent five years in and out of psychiatric hospital, found theatre almost by accident, auditioned for drama school having never trained beforeโ€ฆ and this summer I graduated with a first. ๐ŸŽ“โœจ

But that isnโ€™t really the point.
The biggest achievement wasnโ€™t replacing the A-Levels I never got with another qualification. It was realising that my grades were never the measure of my worth in the first place.

My life might have looked completely different if Iโ€™d opened that results envelope in 2018. Maybe I would have become a doctor. Maybe I would have loved it.
But I also might never have discovered the creative activism, performance, advocacy and storytelling that now make me feel so unbelievably alive.
There is more than one way to build a life.

So if today brought celebration - I am SO proud of you. And if today brought disappointment, confusion, no results at all, or a future that suddenly looks nothing like the one you had plannedโ€ฆ I promise there is still so much life out there for the taking.

Sometimes the path changing isnโ€™t the end of the story.
Sometimes itโ€™s where your story actually starts. ๐Ÿค
Sending so much love to everyone opening envelopes today xx

A career in design is not built on technical ability alone. It develops through experience, shared knowledge and a better understanding of the conditions in which design happens.

But access to this knowledge should not depend on having the right contacts or being in the right room.

The new Creative Industries Skills Audits, produced by the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (@CreativePEC) and Work Advance, point to a sector ready for growth, but at risk of being held back by persistent skills gaps.

Closing those gaps requires action across education, industry and the wider design sector. We have brought together some of the tools, films and platforms available to support designers at different stages of their careers.

Which resources have helped you develop your practice as a designer?
