Only #Breath

Not #Christian or #Jew or #Muslim
Not #Hindu, #Buddhist, #Sufi, or #Zen
Not any #religion or cultural system
I am not from the #East or the #West,
Not out of the ocean
Or up from the ground
Not natural or ethereal
Not composed of elements at all
I do not exist
I’m not an entity
In this world or in the next
Did not descend from #Adam & #Eve
Or any origin story
My place is placeless
A trace of the traceless
Neither body or soul
I belong to the beloved
Have seen the two worlds as one
And that one call to and know
First, last, outer, inner, only that
Breath-breathing human being

Long before being the ‫#‬face of #BurningMan's 2022 'Waking Dreams' Blackrock Yearbook @blackrockyearbook, The Face was also the cover artwork for BM's official support dinner with CEO Marian Goodell & Board Members and the face of @burningman's BRC Honorarium art grants announcement and webpage, after receiving the program's highest amount of funding possible.

In short, the story of our face has been full of #grace ✨

@milennnae thank you for making this dream so wakeful and reality with it so dreamlike! I cannot say I think of you every time I see a face, but I definitely do whenever that face triggers more than what it seems to represent 👤 :-)

Working with you on this has expanded me in so many ways, drew me further to Rumi, Konya, & Sufism, and to your bigger playground soon 🎈 You just rock! Be it at Black Rock, between Cappadocia's rocks, and on many more rocky peaks to come 🌈

Thank you and @tithoreanyc for the opportunity. If ours was a 'message-in-a-face', this message has become a symbol, selected for stapling left, right, and center everywhere it could have covered. Where it was intended for (on the playa) and beyond: grant announcement, fundraiser dinner, official yearbook. Repeatedly engraved in the hearts and minds of all its facers. Such a familiar gift of colossal presence. A token of brilliance for dreamers everywhere.

The Face is an invitation. To connect with oneself, others, and the planet. It's an opportunity for discovery and acceptance. All-welcoming, The Face is a passive collocutor who guides without advice and inspires without dogma. The target is contemplative dialogue in the heart of its audiovisual energy field. The Face invites convergence within before diverging back to the world at large with a heightened sensibility for "whoever you are".… (link in bio)

The Face embodies a cubic iron frame, from which unidimensional layers of composite, duplex-printed elements are suspended using steel ropes. Aquatic creature illustrations, along with a nose, mouth, and eyes, constitute the elements forging the parallax illusion of a genderless portrait collage we call The Face.

The Face, although a juxtaposition of draping flat elements, comes to life as an immersive desert stroll unraveling in 4D amongst 22 cushion seats that embrace the structure as it craves interaction to spark illumination. At dusk and dawn, for 18 minutes, to all visitors speaks The Face.

The Face is playful by design. Gusty winds sway the microscopic creatures and engage the mind, gracing visitors with illusory optical permutations as they approach. Our intention is to revisit notions of change, diversity, and unity in today's world. #burningman #brcvr

I love this face so much
I love everything about it
I love all that it brought me
I love that it did not take me
I love that it’ll go everywhere
I love the miracle of what was
And the mystery of what’s next

#helloworld — We’re still ~$6K short on our funding targets. Please help us bridge this gap before new bridges to new destinations (GoFundMe link in bio - LinkTree http://linker.ee/thefaceproject now updated with media from the playa at #BurningMan 2022)

When @manig_ram invited me to be part of this a little less than a year ago, he was the only team member I had met in person so far. By now, I have met almost everyone, except for the lead #artist herself @milennnae - But I hope we #ruminate in Konya with the master next month 🌪

“The heart is your student
For love is the only way we learn
Night has no choice but
To grab the feet of daylight
It’s as if I see your #face
Everywhere I turn
It’s as if love’s radiant oil
Never stops searching
For a lamp in which to burn”

I look at myself, I try to see the whole picture in a mirror, from a distance and close by. I try to reflect my earthly nature and my holy self. Sometimes i succeed and sometimes i fail👁

A reflection of me, is a face reflecting you…
Thank you for being my challenge @thefaceproject2022 thank you for the pain, for the joy and for the dusty hugs that remain.

The Face Project by Milan Nae - @milennae, another example of the depth of an art piece on the Playa being much deeper and meaningful than it first appears. The Face is an open invitation to face oneself. Collaged from Haeckel’s biological illustrations and synced with Rumi’s poetic calling, is the airy sculpture of 1D elements. The Face beckons to all. All-seeing/-welcoming, it's a passive collocutor who guides without advice & inspires without pushing. The target is meditative dialogue. The process is intentional & incremental: one step at a time, one visitor after the other. Every step is a leap forward. The walk is alone, but love, light, & sound embellish the path to spiritual ascent."

Come, come, whoever you are / wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving / Even though you've broken your vows a thousand times... come, come! / Still come… / this is not a caravan of despair / this is not a caravan of despair” RUMI

In the FACE of the DUST 👁✨👁 We TRUST … 🌪

This installation called the Face Project was one of many that captured my soul and I sat with her for a bit… Her multi Dimensions were mesmerizing 🦋
My passion each years in the past was always to learn about the Art, and imagine standing next to them, learn about them, and letting them help me manifest my First Burn 🫶🏼This was my year ! To do just that, except I left learning to later, and stayed present…. 🕊
Come to find out, She made its way to Playa from Istanbul, Beirut, Guatemala, and Tehran 🤗 How crazy right ?! To learn that parts of her traveled & came from Turkey like I did and met me here is magical & and now makes so much sense 🙌🏼
She was created to echoe Rumi’s Poetic calling and is an open invitation to face oneself ❤️‍🔥 Ofcourse She would.. So poetically beautiful.. She’s definitely an Eye, and Mind Opener … 🌬💫🪐🔥🎯

I am a dreamer and always called for my dreams. Sometimes i dont recognize the clarity of my intentions and when they become real i am surprised, a little scared, more than greatful to all the forces at work and humbled by the oppurtinity. So they say, if u want to grow you must be a little scared of what comes next.

When @sherifkoyess wrote to me and asked if i wanted to take my art to the playa, i knew that it was meant for The Face, and i was in a moment of transformation. The most amazing, challenging and life altering experience that i have been the servent and the observer more than its creator.

I waited with excitement to see this moment of cycling from a far and meeting the eyes of the face, within this vast space of nothingness while the golden sunset shines through…

Thank you @burningman for having us♥️ @tithoreanyc & @naedesignstudio

The FACE is a connector. To bridge polarities on many spectrums: aquatic-terrestrial, spiritual-biological, fauna-flora, material-mental, past-present, East-West.
