Today was a good day because two creatives and myself styled and captured new, fresh and beautiful images for our portfolios. Roasted Plums

@davidlebovitz newsletter posted roasted plums. My Italian plums were a bit on the soft side but I roasted them anyway with vanilla and honey. The colors transformed from muted yellow flesh and purple skins to vibrant reds and golds. They are refrigerated now. I'll post again when I've baked with them or maybe add to a stew.

Thank you @davidlebovitz for the inspiration. My plums were not perfect in shape and softening but I couldn't give up on them. Roasted with vanilla and honey the muted yellow flesh and purple skin transformed into gold and deep burgundies. I put them in a jar and refrigerated. I'll post when I've stopped just looking at them and I've used them.

Figs for Days

6 years ago I purchased 2 Chicago Hardy Fig plants languishing in front of a Whole Foods. One I gifted and the other has been my delight, culinary and nature. Tonight 4 adults had their first fresh fig. It's also The Giving Tree.

Banana Essential

Where do all the ripe bananas go? Peel and all into the freezer. I bring them out for the @cooksillustrated “ultimate” cooked banana bread recipe. I swore I’d never make it again while I was making it…the first time. 😉 thanks @shansmock for bringing me this recipe. The thawed bananas are cooked for 5 min then strained. The strained liquid is reduced and added to the batter. Still sounds like a lot as I’m writing this, but damn it’s really moist and intense with natural banana flavor.
Officially I’ve made this recipe so many times I’ve lost count.
