Formed in 2016 and proudly rooted in San Francisco for the past nine years, The Fell Swoop is a five-piece ensemble dedicated to revitalizing classic funk, soul, and rock ’n’ roll with fresh, original compositions and thoughtfully reimagined covers. Drawing on the diverse musical backgrounds of its members, the band crafts an immersive live experience defined by tight, syncopated grooves, vibrant horn arrangements, and dynamic vocals.

The Fell Swoop has performed at @highsierramusic and SXSW, the SF Pride Mainstage, The Independent, August Hall, Off the Grid, Boom Boom Room, Rickshaw Stop, Cornerstone and Starry Plough. @patiyochella now live as my third ever festival badge and first in the East Bay (so make sure to click over to the east bay page)!! In its 7th year - it started in a backyard in SF and has grown tremendously since then, now expanded to three stages! 50% of the profits go to @oaklandelizabethhouse , a transitional housing resource for women with children who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, addiction, or poverty. It’s all volunteer run too, and all ages to boot! It all goes down July 11 at the @donkeyandgoat winery in Berkeley. It’s crazy how so much can feel like it’s changing and somehow just becoming more and more of what it may have always been.

Last Thursday I produced, played, and Emceed a pre-Pride kickoff show featuring 4 amazing queer local bands, a drag king, aerialist, Queerleaders with a choreographed dance, and interactive booths. Over 350 people showed up and a percentage of all proceeds went to benefitting local LGBTQ+ youth community non-profit @lyricsf.

I know I love making events happen, I know I love performing, I know I love giving friends and community a chance to showcase their unique skills and passions, I know I am passionate about supporting those supporting others, and we all know I love gay shit. But this show felt different.

I think it’s one of the firsts times I’ve looked at an event I’m organizing and thought: Hey. Is really love this AND I’m really good at this.

I’ve always dreamed of putting on shows and experience that leave audiences feeling like they were changed and that they played a part in it. All Pride weekend, I got overwhelming feedback that our show really did something different and people left feeling uplifted, excited, emotional, empowered, free.

I don’t know what this means or if this is the start of a career in event producing or what have you, but for right now I’m just feeling really proud of myself and my community.

I love you all so much - for believing in me, for rocking out, for taking chances, for getting weird, and for showing up. Thank you for being a part of all of it.
