This is the last set of photos we did at the Sunport photo shoot last week. We asked 4 different sets of people to jump in on the spot to model and all 4 times somebody was down to jump in. I appreciate everyone that was willing to help out like that! We’re going to be doing more of these types of shoots for sure. ANGER IS NO LONGER MY ARMOR

James 1:19–21 has been sitting heavy on me today.

I was talking with another Green Beret this morning about anger, and it got me thinking.

In Special Forces, we were hand-selected because we could compartmentalize and function under stress. A lot of us had already learned those skills long before we ever showed up to Selection. Sometimes through hardship, sometimes through trauma, sometimes just because of the life we lived.

Selection didn’t create those traits. It exposed them. Then years of training and deployments sharpened them.

If you’ve served in the military, worked in law enforcement, been a firefighter, or spent your career as a first responder, you probably know what I’m talking about.

The things that make most people panic don’t even register to us. Why would they? Nobody is shooting at us. Nobody is bleeding out.

But nobody teaches you how to come home and unroll all of that.

Your nervous system stays switched on. Your hypervigilance stays switched on. Then one day you catch yourself getting furious because someone is driving 70 in the left lane or cuts you off.

The truth is, it was never about them!

It was never about traffic.

Your brain is still doing exactly what you trained it to do—looking for threats. Somewhere along the way, anger became your armor because it was the only emotion that felt acceptable to express.

At least that’s what happened to me.

For years I thought I just had an anger problem. Looking back, I don’t think anger was the problem. It was what I used to cover everything underneath it.

Fear.

Stress.

Disappointment.

Hurt.

James writes, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

GOD isn’t asking me to pretend those emotions aren’t there. He’s teaching me to stop hiding behind anger and bring what’s underneath to HIM instead.

Anger may have helped me in combat.

It didn’t help me be a better husband.

It didn’t help me be a better father.

It didn’t help me follow JESUS.

That’s why anger is no longer my armor.

I’m still learning!

Surrender is a DISCIPLINE!

One thing I’ve learned about mental strength…it’s a choice. You don’t just wake up with it. You build it, everyday. There’s no bravery without fear. No good days without hard ones.
You put in work in the dark…so when the lights come on you are ready.

Whatever your path is…choose to be strong today. Stand firm on what you say you are going to do and don’t negotiate with yourself until it’s done 😤🫡
