A space that the Universe told me to create before the 2024 election to align was a mostly monthly community hang and games for LGBTQ+ BIPOC (and our BIPOC allies) to gather, break bread, build connections, and uplift one another.

Last night marked the conclusion of the Bloom Room (and, starting in January, it will be referred to as Casa De Bloom, “House of Bloom”), and it will be a quarterly event.

I am grateful for my community + home in #Atlanta. Thank you for blooming alongside me, y’all.

A lot can change in three years and this all feels like a full-circle moment. After moving to Atlanta in September 2021, it was a bumpy start to say the least. By January 2022, I subletted my first solo apartment from someone who used to work for a friend of mine and she recognized my name in the ATL queer exchange Facebook group.

As my sublet in Apt 23 was coming to an end, a studio unit next door (Apt 21) became available. At the end of August when I found out my neighbor was moving out of Apt 23, I knew I had to jump on the opportunity to expand my living space from a studio to a one bedroom.

Last night I held my housewarming and it was such a beautiful experience. Thank you to folks who came and those who sent well wishes. Thank you Daniel, Nate, Bertaud, Kristian, and Jameson for your help with putting this casa together.

For years I yearned to build a home where doors don’t slam and peace is the norm.

“The ache for home lives in all of us.” — Maya Angelou

From the moment I left Miami, the ache for home began. Now, as I prepare to celebrate my third anniversary of living in Atlanta, the ache is gone.

I have built a home. For me. For you. For us.
