The tandem-rigged plastic eel is not new, and everyone knows they catch lots of big fish. That said, as a surfcaster I’ll never skip an opportunity to over-intellectualize this stuff to no end, and dialing in this presentation has been very educational these past two seasons. There’s a whole lot of room for nuance when you’re throwing the same thing all the time, so playing with leader material and diameter, hook size, plastic density, etc can make a noticeable difference in results, and tell you a lot about how fish relate to a spot. Pretty soon we’ll film @thefriguy doing his signature rigging method and put some cool music over it or something, just stop hounding the poor guy about it already sheesh. In the meantime here’s some “summer doldrum” bass

I’m convinced the hardest takes come when you’re completely zoned out and slow your retrieve - this one hit like lightning and yoinked me right off my rock into deep water, but luckily stayed pinned

Not many know it, But I tie fleyes too.

Today, After 2 years of learning - Marks my first sale of fur and feathers. These hollow fleyes are tied using Bob Popovics techniques from his book Fleye Design.

I did not design these fleyes, I just recreated them. The recipe is his, The color choice is mine.
These are available at @tomostackle in Salem, MA.
I will be dropping more at some point in the future; Some bunker, Some Herring, And more Squid And Mackerel.

The Mackerel are built on an @ahrexhooks 6/0 SA290, I went 6/0 to have enough ballast to keep all those @flatwing_fishing hackles sub surface.
The squids are built on an @ahrexhooks 4/0 SA 290 as there's less bulk that needs to penetrate the surface tension and keep the fly below the surface.

I am not a Commercial Tyer, And this is not my job - If you want a few, You can find them at Tomos while supplies last.
I'll be posting stories when they drop.

P.s. Shout Out to Pete in the shop for this photo of a nice bass with my fleye in it's face, Well done sir! 🤙

Saltwater Edge's Striper Kickoff 26'

We want to thank @cobygoodrich31 and all the staff at @saltwateredge for having us. In my opinion; This is the most prestigious show of the year. Where else can you run into legendary surf guys like Dave Manzi, Dave Anderson, Paul Moriarty, Craig Cantelmo, or Dennis Zambrotta under the same tent? Such an Honor to be invited to this one.

In true Friguy's Lureworks form - We were up rigging plugs till the last possible minute, And testing every lure in the harbor under the cover of witching hour darkness.

Thanks to everyone who came out and bought some plugs and had a chat at the table with us. Hands down, my favorite show every year and hope to be invited back again next year.

Shout out to @the_wombat_chugger for getting a shot of @jacobjaskiel and Myself at the table. You're a legend, Homie.

Thats all folks, Time to fish.
