A real pleasure to be invited to support the British Balloon and Airship Association (#BBAC), sharing experiences and lessons learned around Human Factors and Threat and Error Management (TEM)from world firsts to day to day flying - defensive thinking. @aerosparx What a fantastic example of collaboration across different areas of aviation, bringing together examiners, instructors, coaches and experienced aviators to exchange knowledge, challenge thinking and share best practice. Whether flying balloons, @discovergliding or @britishmicrolighting, powered aircraft, the principles remain the same. Understanding human performance, recognising threats, managing errors and learning from experience are fundamental to improving safety. Some of the best lessons in aviation come from looking beyond our own disciplines. A huge thank you to the BBAC for the invitation and to everyone involved for their openness, enthusiasm and commitment to making aviation safer. Different disciplines, shared knowledge and a common passion for aviation. @uk.caa #HumanFactors #ThreatAndErrorManagement #AviationSafety #BBAC Ballooning Gliding FlightTraining JustCulture LearningTogether

✈️ When someone starts speaking fluent AVIATION… and you’re still on Duolingo Level 1. 😂 “So, if you’re compensating for adverse yaw with coordinated rudder input whilst maintaining optimum L/D, you’ll need to account for the induced drag coefficient, particularly as you approach the critical angle of attack…” Me: “Yeah… absolutely… completely agree.” 😎👍 Nodding confidently like I’ve got 20,000 flying hours and used to test fly Concorde. Meanwhile, my brain has lost all communication with Air Traffic Control, the instruments have look upside down and I’m considering an emergency landing. 🚨😂 Eventually, I’ve reached that age where I can confidently say: “Mate, I haven’t understood a single word you’ve said since you opened your mouth.” 🤣 But here’s the thing… That’s exactly what Heights of Possibility is all about. ✈️ You don’t have to understand every technical term, know what every instrument does, or speak fluent pilot to belong in aviation or conservation across the Sahara. Sometimes the first step towards something extraordinary is simply having the courage to say “I haven’t got a clue… but I’d love to learn.” Because at Heights of Possibility, we believe conservation and aviation shouldn’t just be for those who already know the language. It should be for anyone with the curiosity to discover it, the courage to try, and the ambition to see how far they can go. You don’t need to know what L/D means to discover that the sky isn’t your limit and that you can work to protect the planet and people from the sky. 💙 Although knowing which way the aircraft is pointing is probably a good start. 😂✈️ Heights of Possibility - opening up aviation, one confused nod at a time. #HeightsOfPossibility #AviationForAll #AviationHumour #BreakingBarriers #InspiringTheNextGeneration TheSkyIsNotTheLimit

✈️🌍 PILOTS FOR IMPACT — AND WE’RE ONLY JUST GETTING STARTED. What happens when you bring aviation, conservation and opportunity together? You create something bigger than simply learning to fly @vayyufoundation @uoceanproject @uearthproject @uhumansproject You create Pilots for Impact. 🌍✈️ @theglidingcentre @husbosgliding @aerosparxrob @britishglidingassociation Big thanks to Clive Mason from @cmparamotors for this amazing flight. Through “Heights of Possibility” (HOPE), we’re opening the world of aviation to young people who may never have imagined themselves inside an aircraft — let alone at the controls of one. But flying is only part of the story and we will be expanding @britishmicrolighting 🙏🙏🙏 🌊 Protecting our oceans 🌳 Supporting conservation ✈️ Creating pathways into aviation 🧠 Building confidence and ambition 🌍 Developing the next generation of changemakers 🚀 Showing young people that their background does NOT define their destination. We want to create pilots, engineers, conservationists, sustainability leaders and, above all, young people who believe they can become more. And 2027… We can’t tell you everything yet. 👀 But the opportunities being created behind the scenes for young people are on another level. New places. New partnerships. New experiences. New pathways. And opportunities that could genuinely change the trajectory of a young person’s life. Some will experience aviation for the first time. Some will discover careers they never knew existed. And some may become the Pilots for Impact who help protect our planet for generations to come. 🌍 2027 is going to take HOPE to new heights. You have absolutely no idea what’s coming. ✈️🔥 #HeightsOfPossibility #HOPE #PilotsForImpact #Aviation Conservation SocialMobility Sustainability YouthOpportunity FuturePilots FutureLeaders AviationForGood ConservationAviatio

A huge congratulations to @simon_trowell and Paul Casemont, who have both successfully passed their SPL Gliding Skills Tests at @theglidingcentre @husbosgliding 👏 @discovergliding A fantastic achievement for them both after plenty of training, commitment, learning and, of course, lots of fun flying! Now it’s time to enjoy the freedom and adventures that come with becoming qualified glider pilots. Brilliant work — very well deserved! 🥳✈️👏 #Gliding #SPL #GliderPilot #Aviation #Soaring Flying PilotLife TheGlidingCentre

✈️🌍 CONSERVATION + AMBITION. THIS IS HEIGHTS OF POSSIBILITY. What happens when you combine a love for our planet with the ambition to fly? You create Pilots for Conservation at @uoceanproject x @aerosparxrob . 🌱✈️ Heights of Possibility (HOPE) exists to inspire a new generation of young people to dream bigger, aim higher and see aviation as a pathway to purpose. We bring young people closer to aviation through real experiences — flying, airfields, aircraft, STEM, sustainability, entrepreneurship and conservation at @theglidingcentre @husbosgliding But our ambition goes beyond creating pilots. 🌍 We want environmentally conscious aviators. ✈️ We want Pilots for Conservation. 🌱 We want future engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs and changemakers. 🚀 And we want young people from every background to believe that these worlds belong to them too. Some will become pilots. Some will become conservationists. Some will become engineers, innovators and leaders. And some will simply walk away believing, for the first time: “Maybe I can.” That is HOPE. Protecting our planet. Inspiring ambition. Creating Pilots for Conservation.™ ✈️🌍 What’s your Height of Possibility? #HeightsOfPossibility #HOPE #PilotsForConservation #Aviation #Conservation Sustainability YoungPeople FuturePilots STEM SocialMobility DreamBig PurposeTakesFlight

Had a tremendous time at the Gliding Centre and I just wanted to say a massive thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in the gliding experience. I genuinely enjoyed it so much, and it was the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. It was such a unique experience, and I’ll definitely remember it for a very long time. Getting to visit the airfield, see the gliders up close, learn about the safety procedures and controls, and then actually fly and take control of the glider was something I never expected to experience at my age. I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to take part.
