Rankings don’t define the player.

Jaylend Jones breaks down why athletes shouldn’t get caught up in where they’re ranked or if they’re ranked at all. Some of the best players in the game came out of high school unranked and still found a way to make their mark.

At the end of the day, rankings are someone else’s opinion. Your work, your development, and what you do when you step on the court are what matter.

Don’t chase the ranking. Just play.

Some of the most historic schools in the OC and one of the best public school leagues in the county, the Sunset League is always sure to provide star hoopers and some great rivalries. Here’s a preview of the @marinavikingsboysbasketball

Marina has some young stars led by @coltonwillis_3 who is quietly becoming one of the best combo-guard recruits in the C/O of 2028. Colton can score on all three levels and had a huge summer on the Puma Circuit and back home where he had some game winners and poster dunks. Another highlight machine is senior @zeppelinzb.1 who can jump out of the gym. @carters.j3 is going to be an important senior leader for the Vikings who is a strong two-way player. Drew Williams and Kash Lawson return giving Marina two more strong guard options and call ups Jackson Neary and Caeden Bailey provide even more young upside

Year 2 in the books..

82-31 Record through all 4 teams!

An Elite 8 finish

A round of 32 finish

A Pro16 Finals Qualification

5 players moving on to the next level!

A group of young men embarked on a journey and despite numerous options, decided to put their trust in me. A lot of people don’t understand how this all works. The countless hours, the thousands of dollars, the constant phone calls and text messages, it’s a true grind that you have to love. Watching these boys do what they love and being their support system through the good times and bad makes pick this over anything else in the world. We’re hard, we’re demanding, we let the kids have it, but next level playing requires next level dedication!

Ups and downs, drama, losing kids, staff turnover is a part of the game, and I can’t thank our support system and staff for everything they did this year!

None of this is possible without the dedication and admiration of the boys, I am forever thankful for them choosing our program, and they will forever be in the Magic family!

This offseason will be critical, expectations are higher, talent will be better, circuits get bigger and better, but we will be ready, I can assure you that!

Back to the lab! 🥼🧪
