⚡️ I’M 7 MONTHS OLD! ⚡️

Just like that, another month has flown by! Let’s recap 🤭

I have been LOVING this fall weather. One thing about me is I do not like to be overheated, so I have been soaking up the cool fall air & enjoying so many nice walks around campus! 🍂

I’ve been working on some new cues, and mom is so proud of how well I’m doing! The most recent cues I’ve been learning & starting to master are side, heel, and visit! I’m also continuing to do spectacular with loose leash walking while out and about! ⭐️

Another month means going to a lot of fun places & cool outings, too! STEP GBM #2, STEP Halloween, puppy class, sitter sessions, trips to the grocery store, out to dinner, going to class, and more! I’m (normally) very good at adjusting to the situation I’m in and being a good girl and acting appropriately! 🤓

Glows and Grows from mom:

✨Glows✨
I have seen much more of Glimmers personality shine through this past month & it has been the ride of my life learning more and more about her each day! She is motivated, and loves to work. Her work ethic is incredible & each month brings out more amazing things I didn’t know about her! Her little quirks never fail to make me laugh; she is like my built in best friend!

📈Grows📈
Glimmer has reallyyyyy dug her heels in this last month and it has definitely been the peak of her teenage phase 😅 She’s really been testing the boundaries & testing my patience, so I have been having to remind myself that she’s still young & learning! We have been working on outings in less stressful environments, and lessening her time with sitters during the day to give her more kennel time to relax. It’s a great thing she loves her kennel and would spend ALL day there if she could! We’re going to continue to work hard on behaving (especially with sitters), not being mouthy, and we’re gonna practice extra hard with the “mark the trigger” exercise!

Let’s go, month 8!!! 🔔😙✨🩷

Dogfest round 2! This weekend I got to visit DC and I had the best time. I got to see some of my favorite humans and I saw a couple Pittsburgh friends which was a fun surprise! I also got a new flower bandana so hopefully people will stop assuming I’m a boy but we’ll see if it works 🤞🏻

Puppy party!!! 🦮🦴🐾🎉

Yesterday I got to hangout with SO! MANY! FRIENDS!!!! Me and mom went to Gianna and Herbies house, and I was SO happy when I saw how many doggies were there! My besties Herbie and Larry were there, and I also met some new friends! 👯🏼‍♀️

I FINALLY met the famous @its.napa.time !!!! I took a liking to her right away & played with her for hours! Napa is going to PT in 2 weeks, and I cannot wait to see the amazing things she accomplishes! Napa’s momma is also just the sweetest ever & I can’t wait to see her on campus this year💛

I also got to meet the famous sibs @thegreatcasfi - Fidette and Caspian!! Fifi loved to play with me but I think Caspian thought my puppy energy is a little much🤭

Only 3 more weeks until mom starts college & I’m back on Pitt’s campus rocking the streets!! Can’t wait to start a new chapter there ⭐️

Thanks for letting us come over @herbiethelovebuggg 🎀

✨In my Retirement Era✨

We had the most amazing Hail & Farewell party at work yesterday to celebrate my retirement and officially welcome @watchterrancework to the hospital!

There were so many people there who came to celebrate my career, including past and present staff members, former patients I worked with during their rehab, and even my puppy raiser Ellen! A fellow Swiftie even made me a “Retirement Era” bracelet to wear 😍 So many of my @canineorg friends showed up too, like Nola, Linzer, Rhonda, Clara, Joy, and Caspian! Everyone loved having so many pups around 🐾

I want to thank everyone for coming to the party and for supporting me throughout my career. I have been so loved and supported, and it has truly been an honor to serve as the first Facility Dog at Adventist Healthcare Rehabilitation.

The Eta Chapter of DPhiE wants to wish a special goodbye to our favorite Canine Companions dog, Fidette. Our sister Morgan brought her into the lives of so many deephers, and we are all grateful for the time we spent with Fifi.

Morgan wrote a special message about what being Fidette’s raiser means to her:

“I raised fidette through canine companions as a future service dog for the past 17 months. Fidette taught me a lot of responsibility, patience, and a lot about myself. Loving something fully while knowing you’ll eventually say goodbye forces you to grow in a way you didn’t know you could. I’m so thankful for my sisters for always being there when I needed them, and supporting me through my puppy raising journey. Some of my favorite memories of Fidette are her at dphie events. Fidette matriculated february 13th and I know whatever she decides to do, all of her sisters at dphie will be there to support her.”

A little semester recap! I arrived in Pittsburgh right at the end of the fall semester, but I was able to do so much in that short amount of time! I met so many new friends and got to go on lots of pupdates! I even got to be reunited with my sister, who I got to ride home with back to Boston (keep an eye out for another sister reunion soon!).

For December break, I met my dad’s family and his two cats-they are so small and cuddly! We also traveled to Maine to see friends and go shopping, and I did amazing settling and walking around different stores! I had the honor of meeting Paige, the CEO of Canine Companions, and talking about my journey so far. She was so nice and said I was a good boy 🐶

I also got to meet some new Canine Companions pals who are also from Boston! Throughout my vacation, I went on some small outings to stores, farmers markets, and friends’ houses. I also got to go to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where I got to see a massive dog sculpture! At the end, I took a nice car ride to New York and hopped on the Amtrak to see my mom in Maryland, and then traveled back to Pittsburgh! My dad said I did so amazing as I navigated around the crowded station, keeping my attention on him and settling perfectly on the train. The conductor said that I was the best boy ever and wished me luck on my journey!

As I am settling back into Pittsburgh, I am excited for the upcoming semester and to start learning!

Butler is wearing a gentle leader which is a training tool. He can still eat, drink, and give kisses!
