The Guild 🧡 Last weekend I checked out The Guild in Wheaton! This bookstore/bar/coffee shop has everything a bookworm could want. Their order numbers are little books, so adorable! All of their cocktails are book-themed, and it was so hard to choose one! I got the Lonely Hearts Club and it was amazing. I tried some Butternut Squash soup as well as the Pomme Frites. Of course I visited the bookstore after as well and found a wide selection of options! It was So Easy (To Fall in Love) with The Guild! If you’re in the area, you have to make a stop here! #theguild #bookstagram #indiebookstore #bookshopping #bookworm

Steal my toddler-approved Wheaton, IL itinerary! 🧡

Playgrounds are great, but sometimes we want a day out that we can actually enjoy, too. This itinerary balances toddler fun with spots mamas will genuinely love-from gorgeous walks at Cantigny to relaxing at The Guild.

You all loved this one so here’s part 2 of aesthetic bookstores around the U.S.! Just in time for cozy season, enjoy these beautiful bookstores to browse through, stay for a coffee, and leave with some lovely treats.

Thank you for the recs you provided on the last post, and let us know if there are others we’re missing 📚✨

Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.

Consider this your sign to go here ✨📚🍵

Books, matcha, cozy corners… and then I spotted Mahjong. Obviously I was sold.

10/10 little Wheaton find.

Come Sip & Stroll with other local moms! 🤎

Where: Meet at the Starbucks in downtown Wheaton on Front Street
When: Tuesday, September 29 @ 10:15am
Who: All local moms and their kids

We’ll start by grabbing our own drinks to go at Starbucks before we walk! The walk from Starbucks to the Tot Lot is about .5 miles. Parking downtown can be tricky, but there is a parking garage off of Front St. or you can grab street parking.

Starbucks could get crowded if we have a lot of moms like last walk, so swipe to see three other local coffee shops in downtown Wheaton! I would recommend stopping at those around 10 AM to allow enough time to get your drink.

Feel free to join us for all three steps or just one, we’d love to have you for however long you can make it! Send this post to your mom friends - the more the merrier!! RSVP not required.

If you’re new here, @hobbieswithmommies is a group for local moms seeking community and creativity! Join us for casual group events like walks, or small group events where we do something crafty. We can’t wait to connect with you!

Turns out, you don’t have to go away to retreat. 🍂

One of us has work, a house to manage and two kids. The other is constantly traveling, facilitating and juggling more jobs than we can count. Finding a completely free day together is… rare.

But this week, we decided to carve one out.

No flights. No hotel. No elaborate retreat agenda. Just a day close to home, deliberately designed around some of the things we talk about so often at Reflection Institute: slowing down, engaging the senses, noticing what’s around us and making space for connection.

🍂 We started with a long fall walk at the Morton Arboretum — talking, wandering, noticing the season changing…and obviously stopping for a photo with a giant rainbow snail.

🔥 Then we changed gears completely at SweatHouz: heat, quiet, infrared sauna — followed by the VERY abrupt reminder that we were alive courtesy of a cold plunge. 😂

☕️ Next came The Guild in Wheaton. Good food, beautiful coffee, books to browse, spaces to linger in and nowhere we needed to rush off to.

🤍 And finally, Stonehouse Market — a space that genuinely made us want to slow down the minute we walked through the door. Beautiful objects, textures, scents, books, tablescapes and little details everywhere. We stayed, wandered, talked…and yes, did a little unofficial Reflection Institute “research” along the way.

Nothing about the day was complicated.

But it felt different because we had decided the day mattered.

And maybe that’s the thing we’re learning over and over again through this work: retreat doesn’t necessarily require going somewhere far away. Sometimes it’s simply about intentionally stepping out of the rhythm you’re usually in — and creating enough space to notice, experience and connect.

We came home inspired, recharged and with approximately 47 new ideas. 😂

A pretty successful sisters’ retreat day. 🤍
