H O M E... It was a whirlwind 4 weeks at home on the Gold Coast for Christmas & we loved every second. We've missed our family & friends so much, there were tears & laughter & so much fun!

It really made us love our home & miss our people. 🫶 But was a great way to refresh us for the road again.

We loved stopping in to see travel friends @carters_do_a_lap & @thehatlap2024 on our way south too!

I’m still kinda struggling to process the experience that was Garma 2025. Over 11 days I camped at Gulkala in North East Arnhem Land, alongside 80 other volunteers from all over Australia and all walks of life. We dug, raked and did any number of manual jobs while slowly, the festival came to life around us.

Over these weeks, we learned about the traditional owners - the Yolngu people and their various clan groups. From the tiny taste I had, Yolngu culture is strong, extraordinary gracious and grounded in stories, songs, art and family. It’s something every Australian should be proud of and celebrate.

Then there was the music. Every night I planted in front of the stage and couldn’t leave. There was the nostalgic epicness of Yothu Yindi and the (new) Warumpi Band. But then new acts that blew me away, like Larry Gurriwirri, Drifting Clouds and Wild Honey. Late at night when an epic dance circle kicked off, it was the most joyous thing I’d ever seen.

The depth of the vollie experience is one of the most powerful feelings I’m left with, and already miss. Out in the bush, a million miles away from a world that has felt increasingly divided, this was like every uni camp and cultural experience I’ve ever done - rolled into one. We came to learn, listen, work, and serve the Yolngu. Spending every waking minute in the company of incredible people, away from screens and stress, felt like the best holiday of all, even though we worked damn hard.

An unforgettable experience. Thank you Garma ❤️💛🖤

Wishing this legend the happiest 40th birthday! We wish we could be there to celebrate. But instead we decided to have a "dress like Angus" day in East Arhnem Land. Big Hux got involved too. Happy birthday Gus!

📍 Home. Belated post. Making our way from Lennox Heads down through northern NSW coast towards home.
Picked up our new family member Harry the sausage dog💙💙. Spent an amazing month in Echuca catching up with family and friends while waiting for our house to be ready to move back into.
This lap around Australia was more amazing then we could have ever imagined. The time spent together as a family unit was priceless. To all the families we met along the way, thank-you for the memories and experiences we will cherish forever. If your thinking of doing a lap around Oz…… do it. You wont regret it.

BEST DAY EVER! We ventured out to @topendsafaricamp for a day of epic fun with our mates @thehatlap2024 🤩
We started the day taking a boat cruise down the river & did some fishing off the back (some barra hook ups too!) & then breaky. Straight into some croc spotting on the air boats, followed by close up feeding of some monster rescue crocs. We then relaxed by the pool before a helicopter tour of the property.

Thanks to @the_wandering_willos for the recommendation! We cannot rate this day more highly!

Some snaps from Dampier Peninsula and Broome.
Western Australia has been absolutely incredible.
Broome was our last stock up before we hit the Gibb River Road. 😀🌴☀️😎😍

Day 150 - El Questro

Today we tackled El Questro Gorge! 6.8 km to MacMicking Pool. Usually it’s the river crossing that’s gnarly, but it was very underwhelming (which isn’t a bad thing 😅).

This is by far the most epic hike we’ve ever done!! It had everything! Swamp, water crossings, bouldering, rock climbing and scrambling for most of the way. It was challenging for us, let alone the kids but they all did amazing without a complaint!

It was equally as epic in its beauty! As they describe it - the hike is along a narrow spring fed creek through palm and fern clad escarpments. Then there’s the beautiful swimming holes along the way. Magic 🙌🏼
The waterfall at the end wasn’t as grand as it deserved, but still a beautiful stop to swim and rest before the return journey!!

Then we watched the State of Origin for Gussy ✌🏼

144 - Gibb River Crossing Campground

We spent the day at Manning Gorge. The 5 km (return) hike started with a swim across Manning River. Such a beautiful hike with a stunning destination.

Lots of rock jumps, swimming through and under waterfalls and scouring rocks to check out the amazing views. We had a packed lunch and hiked back.

Kudos to @thehatlap2024 and @kokos_travels for dong back to back hike days to do it with us.

We drove back to Gibb River Camp (where we were supposed to be last night) later than what we would have liked cause I had a meeting and we didn’t have time to get to the next site (which ended up being very poor connection anyway 😩).

The bonus was seeing another amazing sunset✌🏼
