Scotland holds a very special place in my heart - it reminds me of wonderful holidays I had when I was younger & this week was exactly the kind of week I imagined I would do with my own children 🫶🏼 Lots of you have been asking for some recs so I thought I would share them all in one place!

We stayed in the beautiful Sunderland Farmhouse in Selkirk, that we booked through @crabtreeholiday who really do have the most stunning properties on their books, lots of which are dog friendly which is a deal breaker for us as we’re obviously not holidaying without the little floofers!

The house was the perfect base for us - it had plenty of space, was decorated beautifully, incredibly well kitted out and glorious countryside all around - it felt like a home, rather than a holiday house. Arriving to a welcome pack that included cold rosé in the fridge after a long old drive was the most wonderful touch! As were the children’s books left next to their beds & the fires laid and ready to go 🥹

There is so much to do in the Borders - we really did only scrape the surface so I guess we’ll have to go back next year! Given the children were crying on our last day as they didn’t want to leave, I’m pretty sure they’ll also be keen! 🙌🏽

With both the Grey Shed and @no9uist busy with guest bookings this summer we decided to take a short break to the Scottish borders, somewhere I spent part of my childhood.

The weather was definitely more Scottish summer than heatwave but tbh it was a relief to hear the rain and see green fields for a change.

We stayed in the stunning Yarrow Valley, in the most perfect little cottage…the kind that has comfortable beds, beautiful furnishings, fresh flowers and the best welcome hamper. We spent leisurely, unhurried days wandering around lovely market towns, eating delicious food, buying some great artisan products and generally enjoying the amazing landscape.
