We are PROJEKT EUROPA - and we work to celebrate migrant artists from all over the world.

Our work spans performance, participation, co-creation, community work and artist development - but above all, we’re a community and a collective.

We believe in the migrant imagination as a transformative force for change, as a way of profoundly reinvigorating our cultural sectors, and as a uniquely hopeful tool to explore new alternatives for our collective future.

Join us. The world is bigger than you think.

Throwback to our birthday party in December!

Five years of community, creativity and celebration - that calls for a party 🥳

In December last year we threw a big lovely party to celebrate everything we’ve done - and everyone we’ve done it with! - in the five years since PROJEKT EUROPA was founded.

It was a brilliant night - huge thanks to everyone who joined and cheered and cried with us! We’re still warm from the buzz ❤️

High five to Jovana Backovic, Andreea Tudose, Tara Fatehi, Nomakhwezi Becker, and Saili Katebe for their gorgeous performances, and to Paolo Carabetta for this lovely video! @pawcaw

Here’s to another five years of us all ❤️

DESIRE MAPS is an interactive map making performance in which audience members are invited to reimagine the geographical journeys of their ancestors.

A collaboration between PROJEKT EUROPA and award-winning visual artist and video designer Akhila Krishnan, and directed by our artistic director Maria Aberg, DESIRE MAPS is an interactive performance looking at migration, climate crisis and the intersection between personal history and global events.

This participatory performance project creates an invitation for audience members to redraw the journeys of their ancestors, step into their shoes and imagine a moment of choice – this way or that? If they could have taken a different route, where would they have gone? And where might they have ended up?

In this R&D, we expanded our creative team to include illustrator Somang Lee, whose live drawing is projected in real time as part of the performance, and sound designer Ali Taie, who shapes the aural journey of those audience members who take a more active part in the performance. Engineer and programmer Richard Wells completed the team, joining movement director Ayse Tashkiran and performers Laila Alj, Robert Lučkay and Rudzani Moleya.

This R&D was co-commissioned by Brighton Festival and supported by Farnham Maltings and Goldsmith’s University - a huge thanks for their support. Previous development phases of this project were supported by the National Theatre’s Generate Programme and Exchange Theatre.

You can read more about DESIRE MAPS on our website - if you are interested in programming this performance for 2026 and beyond, please get in touch!

An amazing experience being part of this incredible team. Proud of the product and the process, enjoyed my brain getting poked, our memories of the past weaved together to create new memories for the present and transfer this energy to the audience to poke “their” brains. Who are we without memories?
Thanks @projekteuropa for the unforgettable experience. And thanks to all the team for the memories past, present and future
