What I thrifted & how I styled it in our Gilmore Girls-inspired Airbnb. 🛍️✨

One of my favorite parts of designing Middle Street Manor has been hunting for vintage treasures at antique shops, thrift stores, and vintage markets — then finding the perfect little spot for them in the house 💕

I’ve always believed the most beautiful spaces feel collected over time, not decorated all at once. A little vintage, a little whimsical, and full of pieces with character and a story to tell.

Because creating a Gilmore Girls-inspired stay isn’t just about recreating what you see on screen. It’s about capturing that cozy, nostalgic, lived-in feeling that makes Stars Hollow so special. ☕️🍂

Sharing some #sundaystills of my fall mantle on this cozy, rainy Sunday. I loved putting this together with lots of thrifted finds and collected items: vintage books, brass candlesticks, amber glass bottles, garlands, and fairy lights. Many of the thrifted finds came from my favorite local shop @thehuntct as well as a few other thrift stores. I love unique finds that make our home feel warm, cozy, and collected.

Emily Gilmore may have some thoughts about dogs… but at Middle Street Manor, four-legged guests are always welcome. 🐾🤎

So naturally, a trip for locally made treats @paulscustompetfood turned into a stop at @thehuntct for the perfect vintage glass jar — because even Emily would never host without refreshments. ✨

And if you’re wondering whether the Manor is truly dog-friendly… Paul Anka and @adventuresofautumndog would approve. ☕️🐾

I love some neutral fall decor using thrifted finds—nearly everything in this photo was thrifted or handed down to me over the years: the hutch, the milk glass, the vintage books, the transferware. The pumpkins have also been collected over the years—some I’ve had for decades now. I love pieces with stories and history and I love giving new life to thrifted finds and using seasonal decor in new ways year after year.

I’d never really taken the time to explore downtown New Milford—and it turned out to be such a lovely place to spend an afternoon. 🤍

🍸 Lunch at Sparrow—both the food and cocktail (The London) were so good
🍪 A final treat at the wonderfully unique Raven’s Bakehouse

And yes, that macaron was amazing. 😊

If you are a vintage lover, fair warning: you cannot just walk through this shop once. It is so beautifully curated and packed with hidden gems that I had to visit multiple times over the weekend because I kept finding incredible things I completely missed the first time!

Don't miss these spots ⬇️ on a fall Gilmore Girls trip in Connecticut (it's the weekend I planned for my best friend and me!)

𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Arrive to Connecticut in the afternoon (BDL- Hartford airport is my rec), and head to New Milford to explore. Kick things off with a Gilmore night in, complete with takeout and junk food OR see a movie at Bank Street Theater. (More options in the blog post!)

✨ 𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗬 ✨

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Explore New Milford. Theo's Diner for breakfast, River & Rail Cafe for Lorelai-approved coffee, gazebo, boutiques, and allll the town green vibes. Hickory Stick Bookshop, Washington Market, Mayflower Inn, snack or coffee at Marty's.

𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀: Head to Yale in New Haven to walk around Old Campus. Stop into Sterling Memorial Library (open to public certain hours). Enjoy famous New Haven pizza for lunch (Sally's, Pepe's, or Modern).

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗿𝗮: Explore more small towns in Litchfield County to no particular plans and see what you find! Autumn festivals? Antique shops? Quirky town events? Check out Kent, LaSalle's in Collinsville, or Rachel's Kitchen in Woodbury (I've heard it's the official inspo for Luke's but haven't been yet!).

List of Shops to visit in “Stars Hollow!” This is in the town of New Milford, CT! Tagging some of the businesses we visited below. Highly recommended these shops!! And a weekend in the life for Gilmore Girls Fans. Only one place we had an access issue-read below.

Pretzel was not fully vested most of the time because it was very hot!! But he doesn’t need to be in accordance with ADA law. Only place we had an issue was @jamies_sweet_shop_ I’d recommend to read up on the ADA law & train their staff. While I understand you have candies in your shop, the general public is allowed in the shop; therefore so am I with my medical devices(including my task trained service dog). There was some confusion and pushback from the one lady who tried to kick me out immediately upon entering. My dog is trained to go in public spaces so I can safely be there. This includes non-pet friendly spaces with food: restaurants, cafes, candy stores, grocery stores, etc. You may ask the 2 legal questions and kick out a dog if they are ill behaved. I hope this helps clarify💞

Wheelchair users: certain shops do have steps down including the candy shop. A decent amount were accessible, some are a bit tight to navigate but we made it work❤️
