Shelter and Sanctuary….

What sort of visceral feeling does your home environment evoke? Peace? Calm? Tranquility? That wonderful sense that all is well in the world?

Or, is your home filled with toddlers to teens, creating messes, ramping up the noise level, un-doing any beauty and order you are attempting to create as soon as you’ve wiped up the last spill. For me, this season of life isn’t always tranquil, but there is a certain beauty in it.

Don’t let my pretty picture here fool you. I am looking at this soothing view from my living room perch. My family room is filled with teenagers. They have tossed the throw pillows in the corner to squeeze more people on the couch for movie viewing. The bowls of popcorn are spilling over onto the floor. They will be once again staining the couch cushions with their popcorn buttered fingers. Beautiful home? No. Beautiful memories? Yes! All is well in my sanctuary!

What season of life are you celebrating? I’d love to know.

(And, since this is a decor account, let me give you a home decorating tip. Only let them stain one side of the cushions. When grown-up company comes, flip the cushions to the clean side! Easiest DIY ever! 🤣)

🇺🇸Welcome to our July Flatlay Gathering!

Friends, as you know, I’m a little ga-ga over vintage flags. It was hard for me to narrow this flatlay challenge down to one picture, so indulge me while I share 5 or 6! And, I know, the last picture isn’t a flat lay, but I couldn’t resist!

The tiny flags you see are twenty-five stars, dating them to 1836-1837. I “kinda” found them while running through a big antique show as an early buyer. In some of these competitive buying markets, you can’t hesitate. I picked up a bunch of rolled-up flags, asked for a price, and said to my husband, “give this lady 50.00”, then I was off and running! I could hear him in the dust saying, “but, you didn’t even look at them”! Silly man.

When I was able to examine them at home, it was truly Christmas in July!! There was one treasure after another! The to-be-expected 48 star flags, a few 46, and a 45. Then, lo and behold, I spot some teeny-tiny rolled up thing pinned in the corner of one of the larger flags. It was done so carefully, I almost missed them! I unrolled two 1.5”x2” twenty-five star flags!! Happy dancing was in order. Merry Christmas for sure!

Let me know what flatlay you would have used from my selection. 🥰🇺🇸

❤️This month’s theme:
“You’re a Grand Old Flag!”

🇺🇸Show us…
ALL THE BEAUTIFUL FLAGS!

❤️We cannot wait to see everyone’s beautiful flatlays!

🇺🇸Flatlay gathering runs from Thursday, 6PM, CST to Friday, 8PM, CST
