“GET LIFTED” TONIGHT AT @theibisbar 7PM

All soul music. All uplifting. All vinyl. All good.

Got a few records in my collection recently that inspired building a whole set around 70s soul music for this next installment of “Get Lifted.” So excited to share these wonderful songs with you beautiful people.

TOMORROW AT @theibisbar “GET LIFTED” 7PM! Free admission always

This week’s edition of “Get Lifted” will be special. I’ve been hunting for this Willie Hutch album for quite some time (in playable condition) and I’ve finally got my hands on it so I’m building a whole set around it. So much of this album is on par with the mission statement of “Get Lifted” so I want to take a special moment to highlight it and the music like it from that same era.

The 70s introduced the golden era of soul music. Everything was bigger and grander. Composer-artists like Isaac Hayes, Barry White, Curtis Mayfield and others, ushered in this era of full on productions. We’ve got string sections, several guitarists, pianist and keyboardist, several percussionists, the whole nine and then some. During this time we were absolutely BLESSED with some of the best music ever crafted. All of it feels so timeless, especially with the advent of the recent soul revival movement helmed by folks like Leon Bridges, Jalen Ngonda, Durand Jones & The Indications, and sooooo so many more.

This week I’m playing the music of Willie Hutch, New Birth, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson and plenty more! Join me at The Ibis tomorrow night at 7pm and lets get lifted!

Always wanted to quickly highlight my set from the other night at @bespoke.nc , the latest installment in my Salute! series, “Salute! From Brazil With Love.” Thank you to everyone who came out!!! It was so much fun exploring all that music. We really went all over with it, starting in the 60s and ending up in 2024! Was hoping to get my hands on the new Ed Motta record but alas 😔

A little real estate, a little networking, and a whole lot of fun! 🥂

We teamed up with Linden Creek for a fun evening at Ibis, bringing together some pretty awesome local agents for a chance to connect, catch up, and enjoy a little time away from the usual hustle.

Good people, great conversations, and plenty of laughs. We might just have to do this again. 😉

Big thanks to everyone who came out and made the night so much fun!
