🎬 THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES – "Pot Sobriety Test" Sketch 🚔😂

A routine traffic stop takes a hilariously unexpected turn in this classic sketch from This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Mark Critch stars as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer who pulls over a driver played by Cathy Jones. What should have been a standard sobriety check quickly descends into comedy when the officer mentions a "pot sobriety test," sparking a series of hilarious misunderstandings.

As the conversation unfolds, the driver's literal interpretation clashes with the officer's serious intentions, creating a perfectly timed exchange of deadpan humor, clever wordplay, and escalating confusion. The chemistry between Critch and Jones makes this one of the show's memorable comedy moments.

“Y’all have a good night” “already did” 😂

via 📺: My Wife and Kids

My Wife and Kids is a classic American sitcom that aired on ABC from March 28, 2001, to May 17, 2005, across five seasons and 123 episodes. Created by Damon Wayans and Don Reo, it stars Wayans as the patriarch of a chaotic but loving upper-middle-class Black family in Stamford, Connecticut.

Premise

Michael Kyle (Damon Wayans) is a successful trucking company owner who fancies himself the ultimate traditional family man and “king of the castle.” His wife Janet (“Jay”) is smart and strong-willed (often the voice of reason), while their three kids — wannabe gangsta-rapper Junior, boy-crazy teen Claire, and adorable youngest Kady — constantly turn his plans for a perfect household upside down with hilarious results. It’s full of slapstick, relatable family arguments, life lessons, and Wayans’ signature physical comedy.

🎥 Interesting Fact: One of the hallmarks of classic British sketch comedy was its ability to take an ordinary situation and twist it into something so unexpectedly dark that the shock itself became the joke.

This sketch begins with what looks like a routine police visit. Two officers arrive at a man's door, politely confirm who he is, and explain that they need him to accompany them to the station. When he mentions that it's his birthday and he's waiting for his wife to come home, the scene briefly feels awkward but harmless.

What makes the sketch legendary is the moment everything suddenly changes. Instead of simply telling him why they're there, the officers produce a keyboard and break into an upbeat birthday-style song. The cheerful melody, friendly smiles, and celebratory atmosphere make it seem as though they're about to deliver some good news.

Then comes the devastating punchline. The song reveals that his wife has been killed in a car accident.

The sheer absurdity of delivering such horrific news through a happy musical performance is what makes the sketch so unforgettable. Even better, once the song ends, the officers immediately return to their calm, professional demeanor as if nothing unusual has happened. The contrast between the joyful presentation and the tragic message creates a level of dark comedy that catches viewers completely off guard.

That wonderfully uncomfortable blend of shock, surprise, and deadpan delivery is exactly why classic British comedy remains so memorable.

Always one you haven’t seen

One of the most memorable Key & Peele sketches starts with a simple charity question: “Do you have a moment to save the children?” Instead of leading to a routine donation, the conversation spirals into a chain of misunderstandings where every attempt to explain only makes things worse. The sketch perfectly showcases Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s talent for turning everyday interactions into escalating absurdity. (YouTube)

Originally airing during Key & Peele’s run on Comedy Central from 2012 to 2015, sketches like this helped make the duo one of the defining acts in modern sketch comedy. Their signature style combined sharp writing, committed performances, and exaggerated social situations, creating viral moments that remain widely shared years after the show ended. (Wikipedia)

Fact: The Black Hole (2008) — Starring Napoleon Ryan as a weary late-night office worker, this acclaimed British comedy short film directed by Philip Sansom and Olly Williams delivers a punchy cautionary tale about human greed.

To pull off the mind-bending illusions of reaching through solid objects, the filmmakers relied on clever practical effects and camera positioning rather than heavy CGI.

They cut real holes into physical props, including the vending machine and the safe door, aligning the black hole paper precisely over the openings relative to the lens.

The short film became a viral hit after winning the Virgin Media Shorts competition in 2008, earning millions of views worldwide for its creative premise and silent, slapstick performance.

Pure internet legend 😭

DeShawn Raw created the Supahotfire character in the early 2010s, building a massive following through hilarious YouTube videos that spoofed battle rap culture. Famous for his deadpan delivery, iconic catchphrases, and the unforgettable “I’m not a rapper” line, the sketches focused more on over-the-top reactions and comedic timing than actual rap battles.

The videos quickly became viral sensations, helping turn Supahotfire into one of the internet’s most recognizable meme characters. Years later, his clips, quotes, and reactions continue to be shared across social media, securing his place as a pioneer of online comedy and viral culture.

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele turn a familiar genre into the centerpiece of a sketch that's packed with exaggerated reactions, escalating chaos, and perfectly timed comedy. The more seriously the characters embrace the moment, the funnier everything becomes, proving that complete commitment is often the secret ingredient behind the best sketches.
What makes "Dubstep" so memorable is how effortlessly it blends satire with character-driven humor. The sketch doesn't just parody a style of music
—it captures the excitement, intensity, and over-the-top energy surrounding it, all while delivering the sharp writing and impeccable chemistry that define Key & Peele.
That's why "Dubstep" remains one of the duo's most entertaining sketches. It proves that even the loudest trends can become comedy gold when they're taken just a little too seriously

Martin Lawrence is an American comedian, actor, and producer who became one of the biggest voices of 90s comedy. Born in 1965 in Frankfurt and raised in Maryland, he started doing stand-up as a teenager and broke out on _Star Search_.

He exploded with his own Fox sitcom _Martin_ (1992-1997). As Martin Payne, he played multiple characters — Sheneneh, Mama Payne, Jerome, Roscoe — and turned a sitcom into a cultural moment. Catchphrases, wild outfits, and that "What's up?!" energy made him a household name.

On the big screen he became the king of buddy comedies. _Bad Boys_ with Will Smith gave us wisecracking Detective Marcus Burnett. _Big Momma's House_ showed his range doing physical comedy in drag. Add _Blue Streak_, _Nothing to Lose_, and _Boomerang_ and you’ve got a run that defined 90s box office comedy.

His style is loud, fast, physical, and super confident. He can go from angry dad energy to goofy voices in a second, but he always keeps heart in it. After some time away, he came back strong with _Bad Boys for Life_ and _Bad Boys: Ride or Die_, proving the chemistry with Will still hits.

Martin paved the way for comedians to be creators, stars, and characters all at once. He’s unapologetically himself — funny, bold, and still making audiences laugh 30+ years later.
