The Principal’s Office is now where our front desk staff greet you on arrival. - Our design team painstakingly transformed every space from the inside out — preserving the airy openness of the original buildings while adding textured layers of warmth to soften the scale of each room. It has taken a village of hardworking humans to bring this property back to life - many of whom we’re sure had their doubts about the plan, but chose to believe in the vision anyway. And boy, are we thrilled with the results! There are many more that weren’t on the front lines day-to-day, but instead were behind the scenes, quietly shaping the brand, the language, the menus, applying for permits, setting up conversations with the press, testing product samples, and so much more. Killer 360° views at hilltop event celebrating the first-ever #SauvignonBlanc from the team @ShaferVineyards. Chardonnay was the only white until now. . . Pic 1 shows the #NapaValley looking northwest (also pics 3 and 10). To the southeast behind winemaker Elias Fernandez (pic 4) are the fabled Stags Leap Palisades (also pic 5). First time not in a balloon I’ve seen them more or less at eye level. Pic 6 shows the #ShaferVineyards tasting room and production facility below. . . The sophisticated 2025 Shafer Sauvignon Blanc, whose grapes come from a single Los Carneros vineyard, highlights SB’s tropical and citrus characteristics, especially as the wine warms a bit. Fernandez aged it on its lees (dead yeast cells and other post-fermentation sediment) in 40% new French oak, providing a creamy counterpoint to the acidity and minerality, enhanced by 60% stainless-steel eggs and barrels. Wise choices all around. . . Stunning setting (formerly owned by Screaming Eagle founder Arlie Jean Phillips) to celebrate the new wine. Have to join the club to acquire it, though. . . The Future Collective brought a community conversation to Scribe Winery that considered the responsibility of land ownership and agricultural stewardship, how the contraction of the wine industry might open the door for independent businesses, the intergenerational transfer of different forms of capital, and how much of Sonoma’s economic value comes from its culture and sense of place. “I think tonight, one of the things that we really have going for us as winegrowers is that vineyards can be so much more than just places that farm or grow fruit. They can be as they are tonight, a classroom for thinkers, a place for community, for food, for art.” — 𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘪, 𝘚𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘦 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘺 “We need to have a united front. Before the first guests are greeted, the first bags unpacked, the first appetizers are served — there’s a calm hush. When everything awaits. - This weekend we opened our doors to the Hotel, and it was our greatest joy to finally and warmly do so.
