@culturecon Day 1 2026 Recap

This time last week, I was at #CultureCon2026! Four years attending and two years participating in the Culture Con focus group, I’ve learned a thing or two about making the most of the experience.

There were some mixed reviews this year and with growth comes challenges, but one thing I’ve consistently admired about @imaniimani and her team @cultureconcollective is how they use social listening and attendee sentiment to find solutions, improve and respond. It was awesome to see feedback from our focus groups come to life through initiatives like BrainDate, creating more opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and networking. If you got things to say, don't just complain online, complete the feedback survey, it makes the experience better for all of us.

A few things I’ve learned over four years:

1. Set your goals. Decide what you want out of the weekend beyond a photo op. It keeps you focused!
2. Wear a conversation starter or promote something your passionate about. Mine was Caribbean designers!
3. Get there early! Beat the long queues and enjoy the activations before the crowds build.
4. Use the app. Plan your must-attend sessions, but leave room for sponteanous link ups and networking.
5. Explore beyond the main stage. Some of the most valuable, practical advice comes from smaller, more intimate sessions.
6. Don’t be afraid to go solo. Even when attending with friends, I make time to explore independently, meet new people and follow my own interests.
7. Make the queues count. Some of my best conversations have happened while waiting in lines!

For me, Day 1 is always about finding my bearings, enjoying the activations, making connections and having fun! Day 2 was all about information gathering, insightful conversations, discovering new businesses and taking home practical advice. Stay tuned for Day 2!

Y’all know I love a good fashion moment, and this year I came ready to take up some SPACE! 💅🏾✨ From putting together my own CultureCon fit to seeing everybody’s personal style on full display, the fashion alone was worth the trip!

But the real highlight? The PEOPLE! 🥹💕 So many genuine conversations, familiar faces, new connections, and creatives doing their THING! I came to serve a look, grab my mic, and make some magic—and we did just that! 🎤

The Museum of Us was giving main character energy, and I loved every minute of it! 🖤
